Fight Parkinson’s have over 40 years of experience in improving the quality of life and wellbeing of the 219,000 people in Australia who live with Parkinson's Disease.

In 2023, Fight Parkinsons were granted $50,000 by the Telematics Trust to establish The Community Hub: an online platform designed to make knowledge, strategies and skills easily accessible to those living with the disease and their carers.

Combining comprehensive learning courses with FAQs and factsheets, as well as practical tools like a digital doctors appointment checklist, the Community Hub is helping the people that live with Parkinsons and those who love them access the knowledge and skills needed to lead empowered lives – no matter their location.

Here at Telematics, we're delighted to have helped Fight Parkinsons towards their vision: of those living with Parkinson’s being empowered and able to live full and active lives.

To explore The Community Hub, as well as further services, advocacy and information, check out Fight Parkinson’s site here: https://www.fightparkinsons.org.au/

First Nations knowledge, embodying one of the world's oldest continuing cultures, faces the profound risk of loss. When Elders pass away, a wealth of stories and knowledge can disappear, or become inaccessible to younger generations.

This is the driving force behind SharingStories Foundation’s Koori Digital Maps: Connecting Country, Sharing Culture. This innovative project uses interactive digital mapping to bring Victorian First Nations stories to life. By incorporating elements of film, bilingual digital books, on-Country apps, animations and interactive Discovery Maps, the project aims to link culture and technology to preserve culturally critical stories for generations to come.

Find out how SharingStories Foundation is transforming digital education into a living act of cultural preservation by reading our latest blog post here: https://www.telematics.org.au/case-studies/preserving-culture-through-connection-sharingstories-foundations-koori-digital-maps

Grantee Spotlight: In a rapidly evolving education landscape, Deakin University is redefining STEM learning through consistent innovation.

Supported by a $50,000 grant from Telematics Trust, Deakin developed a cutting-edge VR-haptics platform that combines virtual and augmented reality, robotics and tactile feedback to deliver immersive, hands-on learning experiences. Designed with regional and disadvantaged schools in mind, the initiative helps students engage with complex STEM concepts in meaningful, experiential ways.

Despite challenges such as limited connectivity, the project has shown the strong potential of VR-haptics to deepen learning, boost engagement and support equity in education — highlighting the power of technology-led collaboration to inspire future STEM leaders.

Could technology help close one of Australia’s biggest education gaps? Chemistry Education Association (CEA) believes so.

With $49,100 in grant support from Telematics Trust, CEA has launched Ensuring Great Science Teaching for All — a tech-enabled professional learning program designed to empower teachers and strengthen science education, particularly in regional and rural schools.

Across Victoria, up to one in five general science teachers are teaching out-of-field. CEA’s initiative tackles this challenge head-on through accessible online learning, live virtual lab workshops and immersive 3D visualisation tools, building teacher confidence and capability where it’s needed most.

Over three years, the program will support 160 teachers and reach more than 16,000 students, helping unlock future pathways in science, medicine and industry. The project is another powerful example of technology, collaboration and community driving real educational impact. Grantee Spotlight: Flying Fox is an organisation helping build an inclusive society by connecting people living with a disability and the wider community through sleepaway camps, dinner parties, games nights and other fun-filled activities. But this couldn't be done without Flying Fox's team of warm, energetic and passionate volunteers.

It's these same volunteers that can now access a revolutionary online training program that ensures they receive the highest-quality training possible – all thanks to a $45,000 Telematics Trust grant.

Best of all, the benefits will be felt beyond the happy campers at Flying Fox – access to the training will be extended to other charities and disability groups that have already expressed their interest.

You can find out more about Flying Fox and how they're achieving their mission to build connections between people with disability and the community through the power of fun by visiting their website: https://www.flyingfox.org.au/

What if AI could help break down one of the biggest barriers in Australian healthcare?

That's the ambition behind a bold, AI-powered platform and chatbot from the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute that aims to assist the 1.9 million Aussies that live with diabetes.

Made possible by a $50,000 Telematics Trust grant and led by Associate Professor Neale Cohen (pictured), the world-first platform will see the Baker Institute leverage the power of AI to provide tailored, clinician-approved diabetes care plans to the people that need it most, no matter where in the country they live.

You can find out more about how the Baker Institute is revolutionising diabetes care by reading our latest blog post: https://telematics.org.au/breaking-barriers-baker-institutes-new-ai-powered-chatbot/

Grantee Spotlight: Health Australasia’s My Dementia Companion (MyDC) app demonstrates how tech can transform dementia care through education and personalised support.

Powered by a $50,000 grant from the Telematics Trust, and designed to meet the needs of both family carers and care professionals, MyDC features two tailored platforms: the CARER app and the PRO app. Together, they provide practical, real-world guidance that simplifies the complex dementia care journey and supports better outcomes for people living with dementia.

In its first year alone, MyDC supported around 1,000 carers – double its original target. High engagement and satisfaction levels highlight the app’s impact, empowering carers and professionals to deliver more confident, informed, and compassionate care.

The MyDC is just one of the life-changing projects supported by Telematics Trust: View the list of our recently announced 2025 grantees here: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7418622067585196032
