It’s a genuinely exciting time seeing DENZA deliver the first B5 variants into the hands of Australian customers.

Theres still a common view that EV and PHEV technology is in its infancy. That might be true for some manufacturers, but it certainly isn’t for BYD.

A quick look at their history tells the story. BYD launched one of the world’s first mass-produced dual-mode plug-in hybrids back in 2008, meaning they’ve been developing and refining this technology for well over 15 years. That kind of head start matters.

I still remember around 2015, when Elon Musk laughed off BYD on national television. Fast-forward a decade and the global automotive landscape looks very different. BYD is now firmly established as one of the leaders in electrification, scale and real-world deployment, not just concepts anymore.

The pace of change in this industry has been incredible to watch and it feels like we’re only just getting started of what we can really expect to see here in Australia from BYD & DENZA.
