Like with much of the print/screen media there has been a concentration of so called community groups controlled by a tight group of admins.

There are some great sites with broad "community" interest - unfortunately most in the LGA have now become echo chambers for special interests with links to shock jocks and the press.

Lets call out the groups and the players and perhaps start to unmask some our long term facebook characters ...

Note - local councillors and ROPP did not help original objection - and also set an ongoing precedent regarding licenced premises.

The historic pub is set for a new rooftop redevelopment, with restrictions, after VCAT settled the long-running dispute. Opponents have vowed to keep fighting.

As we start the tough on crime, though on the cause of crime rhetoric .... lets get factual....
a. Police numbers are managed at a state level not council.
b. If police have to make a choice of road accident, domestic violence etc .... or antisocial behaviour, car break-ins or complaints regarding amenity ... surprise!!!... they will attend the former.
c. COPP is NOT an unsafe LGA. Crime rates have not materially increased over the last five years.

Perhaps time to stop ranting on 3AW and work on addressing the causes of crime that the council can actual impact (housing, support services, lighting, cleaning etc.)

Pfffffft!!! 4 years already since the last one....
Strap in for the maelstrom of illogical fluff known as the COPP council elections.....
What's happened since last time ......
Covid
Bike Lane trial- poorly implemented but NIMBY in purest form
Pride Centre opened (but did not drag Fitzroy street up with it)
Town Hall lease - bargain generational lease but not fully funded
Acland street still in decline
Fitzroy Street still the same (in decline)
Bay street on way down
NIMBY Toilets -rant without substance
ROPP over extend objection to MPH plans - stuffed it up bigtime.
Budget much the same (and requests to CEO to find savings that councillors than refuse to implement)
Barak Public Housing gone but replacement not approved
3AW the rant outlet of choice instead of local debate
Couple of councillors put their hands up for state elections
One councillor got her senate place - but locals didn't notice.
Dogs arriving as a slow burner issue
Triangle version 10 to burn more budget

oh - and this time single seat wards - so lets look forward to the politicking just beginning....
