Have you heard of Bronhill Reserve?
Do you appreciate Maroondah's pocket parks?
Does the thought of selling off public space make you thoughtful?
Please read and take action - imagine if this became a thing council considered more regularly?

🌳 THE PETITION TO SAVE BRONHILL RESERVE IS NOW LIVE

Over the past week, I’ve heard from so many people who are concerned about Maroondah City Council considering the sale of Bronhill Reserve in Ringwood East.

One question keeps coming up:

If the only public green open space in this neighbourhood can be sold, what does that mean for other pocket parks and neighbourhood green spaces across Maroondah?

Bronhill Reserve is small. But that’s part of its value.

It’s a place to take the kids for some fresh air and a play. To kick a ball or throw a frisbee. Walk the dog. Get some steps in away from traffic. Sit under a tree. Notice a bird, an insect or a new patch of fungi. Meet a neighbour. Or simply spend ten quiet minutes surrounded by green.

As our suburbs become denser and private gardens and tree canopy disappear, these little pockets of publicly owned green space will become more important, not less.

And this is why ownership matters.

Public access is not the same as public ownership.

While Bronhill Reserve remains Council-owned, it is a public asset held for the community. If it is sold, it becomes privately owned land — even if arrangements are made for some ongoing public access.

So we’re asking Maroondah City Council to do something very simple:

Keep Bronhill Reserve in public hands.

✍️ Please sign the petition here:

https://www.change.org/p/save-bronhill-reserve-keep-our-neighbourhood-park-in-public-hands

And then please share it. You don't have to live near Bronhill Reserve to care about what happens to our neighbourhood green spaces.

📣 And please also take part in Council’s official consultation before 28 August. The petition demonstrates community support, but your submission to Council matters too:

Bronhill doesn’t need to be a big park to matter.

🌳 It’s our little patch of green — and it belongs to everyone.
