Recently we spent a beautiful day at Westgate Park learning, connecting, and creating Yedabila habitat pods together.

The day began with a guided bush walk led by Kai, exploring the local landscape, plants, and stories of Country. We then spent time learning about the Superb Fairy-wren — Waatji Pulyeri, meaning “little one of the lignum bush” — and the important role these small birds play.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day so special.

Thanks for the City Of Melbourne for funding the workshop.

Recently we were with the wonderful Kerang South Primary School for our monitoring class at North Street Reserve.

Students explored plant health, the importance of healthy and sustainable ecological systems, the causes of land degradation, and management strategies that help protect Country for future generations. We also looked at creative ways to strengthen connections between community and the natural environment.

Grasslands play a vital role in supporting biodiversity, improving soil health, and helping slow and absorb floodwaters during heavy rain events.

Spending time in nature gives young people the chance to learn hands-on, build stronger connections to Country, and understand the importance of caring for the environment around them.

A huge thank you to Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal for funding this opportunity and helping make these experiences possible for local students.

Recently we got out on Country with the students from Murrabit Primary School, exploring their revegetation site just three months after planting. It was amazing to see how quickly the plants have grown due to their hard work.

These wetlands also hold deep cultural significance, cared for by First Nations people.

It’s powerful for young people to learn not just about ecology, but their role in caring for Country.

This Project was Proudly supported by the Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grant.

Free Community Event!

Come along to our Yedabila Habitat Pod Workshop — a hands-on experience for all ages! Learn traditional Aboriginal weaving techniques and create a habitat pod, designed as a safe and cosy home for our local superb fairy-wrens in Melbourne.

Did you know? Superb fairy-wrens nests are beautifully woven domes made from grasses and spider webs. This connects nicely to traditional weaving practices — using natural materials to create shelter and protection.

Join us, get creative, and help support our native birdlife at the same time. Everyone is welcome!

Recently Eco Warriors Australia were restoring a grassland where the mallee meets the floodplain with students from Kerang South Primary School 🤩

Students had fauna all around them with amazing native species like grey-crowned babblers, blue-banded bees and striated pardalotes, highlighting just how important these ecosystems are.

With over 99% of Victoria’s native grasslands lost, projects like this matter more than ever. A highlight was reintroducing the rare chocolate lily alongside native grasses to help rebuild this landscape.

A huge thank you to Kerang South Primary School and FRRR for making it all possible.

We met with the lovely Lilydale Primary School Grade 3s at Spadonis Reserve today. We heard lots of 🐸, saw a wombat and good news, no 🐍! Students learnt how to grow natives like Hazel Pomaderris and Yarra Burgan.

Our Planting the Seed program is kindly supported by the Victorian Government through the Green Links grant. A big thanks to our partners at and for all their support.
