CAN YOU HELP US WITH OUR FUNDRAISER???

YDMI’s Fundraising Festival - Sunday 23rd August @ Dancehouse

As a youth-lead initiative, we know that support can be shown in so many different ways. That’s why we are calling out for assistance in making our Fundraising Festival a huge success.

Do you have something you can contribute to our day?

Artistic knowledge?
Time?
Delicious baked goods?

Nothing is too silly or trivial.

✨Getting to know Kimball Wong ✨

𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔.
Funny one to try and answer! I guess Kind, Consistent, and Loyal

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎?
I love dance for the physicality, the ability to explore emotion and storytelling through movement, and also the connection to the other performers and the audience.

𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕?
Honestly, I’ve worked with so many different dancers and choreographers, that they all have left me with something to hold onto, and use in my own path, I wouldn’t feel right singling people out!

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆?
I really enjoy cooking, music and gaming!

𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒚?
It is a very special time when creating as a team, whether creating your own work, or facilitating someone else’s vision, to watch the room work, and share their creations and ideas openly, and to see every different ’Take’ on a task.
There’s so many wonderful things that happen during a process, it is often where some of my favourite memories come from!

ABOUT KIMBALL’S CTRL + ALT + CREATE WORKSHOP:

“This workshop will give participants a chance to experience some of the choreographic vocabulary I have acquired through working with many different choreographers and artists, particularly focussing on my recent experience with Stephanie Lake Company”

✨Getting to know Tomas Arroquero✨

𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔
Obsessive, meticulous and a non-conformist.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈?
I love to knit, cook and rummage through Op shops. I’m passionate about dance at all levels. I’ve always been inspired by good art and what it can reveal and make me feel.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎?
Dancing makes me feel alive, restored and in my body.

𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕?
Akram Khan, Sidi Laarbi Cherkoui, Fred Astaire

𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒇𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒐?
I just love moving in a flamenco way. It’s the combination of the rhythm, song and playing with the form that I enjoy most.

Curious about Lana Šprajcer’s CTRL + ALT + CREATE workshop?🤔

“I’ve titled this workshop ‘In-between Bodies and Things.’ Together we will explore an interdisciplinary choreographic method developed by a collective of visual and dance artists that I am part of based in Croatia - MOLD kolektiv. Our practice focused on process, is relational and speculative. We will play with objects, exploring both their material properties and movement-potential, before translating our investigations into choreographic principles for organising bodies into movement and dance.”
