Lalor parkrun

Lalor parkrun Lalor parkrun is a free, timed, 5km run / walk put on by the community for the community at 8am every Saturday morning in Lalor, Victoria.

parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5km timed run, jog or walk. It can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. Lalor parkrun offers an opportunity for all members of our local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy our beautiful gardens and get physically active in the process. We want

to encourage people to walk, jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE! Taking part is easy – just register in advance by 6pm on the Friday before your first ever parkrun event. The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once! Then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there! Getting there via transport:

From Thomastown Train Station to Whittlesea Public Gardens:
• Bus – take the 554 bus (37 minutes), bus 357 (35 mins) or bus 557 (41
mins)
• Car – 8 min car drive
• Cycle - via metro ring road trail (21 mins and 5.5km), via Edgars road

Huge congratulations to Darren Wood — the first person in parkrun history to reach the incredible milestone of 1000 parkruns! 🎉🏃‍♂️

Darren completed his 1000th parkrun today at Morden parkrun, cementing a place in parkrun history that may never be matched.

To put this into perspective:

* 1000 parkruns equals more than 19 years of consecutive Saturdays
* That’s assuming no missed weeks…
* No pandemic interruptions…
* And no volunteering instead of running…

But he has also volunteered more than 400 times along the way — an extraordinary contribution to the global parkrun community ❤️

Congratulations to Darren Wood, the first parkrunner to reach the 1,000 walk/run milestone 💛

*Lalor parkrun Event #464 Run Report 🏃‍♂️💨*

What a morning at Lalor!
80 legends showed up and smashed out event #464 !!!
We had a massive 36 first timers and 13 recorded new Personal Bests !!! Well done all

It was one of those classic parkrun mornings - beautiful blue skies, but a little nip in the air at the briefing. By the finish line, everyone was warmed up and grinning.

Big milestone shoutouts this week 👏:
1. *50 parkruns* – congrats on hitting the half-century club Nadia DIMATTINA

2. *350 parkruns* – unofficial but still amazing ! Absolute legend status unlocked. That’s 7 years of Saturday mornings done right! Well done David Caldecoat

Huge thanks to all the volunteers who made it happen in the cold. You’re the real MVPs keeping the barcode scanners scanning and the timers ticking.

The event was made possible by 6 volunteers:

Mark DOBSON • Ciaran CARBERRY • Karen CARBERRY • Lillian GRECH • Robert WILLIAMS • Lindsay WILLIAMS

See you all next Saturday for event #465! Bring a mate, bring the energy, and maybe bring gloves if the chill is back 😂

Photos to follow shortly !
