Firstly, to our players — thank you for your efforts, commitment and resilience throughout this tour.

To Wellington Rugby Football Union and Wellington Māori Rugby — thank you for an amazing experience, your hospitality and the way you welcomed our Brothers. We truly appreciate it.

To our accommodation and transport providers — thank you for helping make the tour run smoothly and safely.

To our Brothers Family — parents and guardians — thank you for the love, trust and support you continue to show. Without your support, experiences like this simply wouldn’t happen.

To Aunty Nona — thank you for everything you do behind the scenes. Your genuine care for our players, attention to detail and willingness to always step in and help is a huge part of what makes these tours work.

To Coach Jonas — thank you for stepping up at the last minute and taking on the role. The way you connected with the players and helped guide them throughout the tour was greatly appreciated.

And finally, to our 17 Brothers.

This group came together with almost half coming from Rugby League backgrounds. You experienced coaching changes early, player withdrawals and plenty of challenges — yet you continued to push forward and took this tour on together.

That is RESILIENCE.
That is MANA.
That is BROTHERS.

Over these days, we covered a whole lot more than rugby.

Cultural Experiences.
Game Preparation.
Life Skills.
Game Lessons.
Brotherhood.

The departure is getting closer, but the memories are still being written.

What started as a rugby tour has become something much bigger — brotherhood, growth, culture and memories that will stay with us long after we leave.

The Final Chapter isn’t finished yet.

GAME 2 — WELLINGTON MĀORI

TU TAU MANA.
Stand up with all your inner spirit.

That was the response from the Brothers today — and it was received with the respect it deserved by Wellington Māori.

There were patches of really good rugby from the Brothers, but ultimately, it wasn’t enough.

Wellington Māori were dangerous out wide and capitalised on errors from our end. Losing four players through injury throughout the match certainly wasn’t ideal, but we’re grateful to Wellington Māori for bringing some of their keen young players across to help us finish the game.

That’s what rugby is about.

Respect. Connection. Mana.

And then came the best part…

🇳🇿 The after-match in New Zealand is WAAAYYYY BETTERR 😂

A great exchange of tour kit, plenty of kai, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, a good yarn.

The scoreboard tells one story.

The relationships built on this tour tell another.

To Wellington Māori — thank you for the challenge, the respect and the mana shown to our boys. We’ll remember the rugby, but we’ll remember the connection even more.

To all our Brothers families who travelled to New Zealand and stood behind the boys — thank you.

To everyone who has supported this group throughout the tour — thank you for continuing to believe in what we are building.

HEAD COACH ANNOUNCEMENT 🇳🇿

With James Lancaster stepping away from the U16s NZ Tour 2026 campaign due to work commitments, and Jackson Popata currently limited through injury, we’re excited to announce that our Founder and Director of Rugby, Masi Tusitala, will take the reins as Head Coach.

A leader who has helped build Melbourne Brothers Rugby Academy from the ground up, Masi brings passion, experience, and a deep commitment to developing our young men on and off the field.

The journey to New Zealand continues — and we couldn’t be more excited to have him leading the way.
