This week, we attended the Real Industry Job Interviews (RIJI) with students from Preston High School, hosted by the Aborigines Advancement League Inc. Vic

RIJI is a work-readiness program run across Melbourne’s inner north that culminates in mock interviews with local employers and volunteers. It’s about giving students a taste of what a real job interview feels like and providing them with honest feedback.

Our Grants Manager Bianca volunteered as an interviewer, and she had an ace time chatting with students about their aspirations and attitudes to work.

This year, around 1,000 students are taking part in RIJI, and more than 16,000 have done so since 2005. The program is run by Inner North Jobs for Youth, who we've been lucky to partner with and support for almost 20 years.

We recently gathered at SisterWorks' Carlton Empowerment Hub to celebrate this year's Pathways to Employment Fund grant recipients.

From supporting refugee women to creating opportunities for First Nations peoples, young people and people experiencing homelessness, this year's 13 grant recipients are helping open doors across Melbourne's inner north.
