September 8th is International Literacy Day.
First established by UNESCO in 1966, this day highlights literacy as a fundamental human right and a cornerstone for personal dignity and social development.
Literacy helps people access education, improve social outcomes and reduce poverty.
Globally, women and girls are disproportionately affected, with lower literacy rates in many countries.
Our mission at Schools for Nepal is to empower students through education and literacy is a core skill taught at our schools.
