Indeed Birdwatching is a fabulous Outdoor activity that brings SO much joy to SO many it CELEBRATES our so precious Birdlife who are ALL LIVING WORKS OF ART and must be protected from the savagery and stupidity of many Humans! AND it adds over $3 BILLION to Australian economy! VICTORIA TIME TO BAN DUCK SHOOTING & HUNTING & JOIN 21st CENTURY!

We are so happy our new Premier is "not Dan or Jan". Can Victorians now be listened to and our state progressive?...🙏🙏👏
Huge thanks to Georgie Purcell - Animal Justice Party MP and Katherine Copsey for their work to put the brakes on dangerous new pro-recreational hunter legislation which could have seen Victorians locked out of even more public land (unmonitored recreational hunters with fi****ms already have access to over half the state - the most extensive access in the country). And congratulations to Ben Carroll MP for seeing there is more to outdoor recreation than huntn&shootn.

RESIDENT CORELLAS - MITCHELL SHIRE

Georgie /AJP has stepped in to help ANPPA to stop any of our precious Resident Corellas from being culled in the Mitchell Shire after the Kilmore & Tatura Golf Clubs, Mitchell Shire Council Kilmore Racing Club had met with their local MP Annabelle Cleeland to complain about the Resident Corellas. Georgie has had discussions with MP Annabelle Cleeland and pushing for funding, advising her of the now available and so effective Non Lethal technology - scientifically tested at 95% - designed and operated by Cherrp who have now merged with the Bird Advocacy Foundation whose Patron is the world renowned Bird Behaviour Expert & Ornithologist Emeritus Professor Gisela Kaplan whose life’s work had greatly informed the development of their AI Computerised System which not only deters birds away from sensitive areas but also cares for the birds by directing them towards areas where they can find food water and lodgings.
ITS A WIN WIN!
AND this technology is also being applied to help keep our Bats & Kangaroos safe as well!

BIRD FLU HAS ARRIVED YET SA & VICTORIA ARE ALLOWING QUAIL SHOOTING ETC TO CONTINUE - THIS IS SO IRRESPONSIBLE AND MUST BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY TO CONTAIN THE SPREAD OF THIS SO DEADLY INFECTIOUS BIRD FLU!

SIX DAYS since the deadly H5N1 was first detected in Australia. Still our GOVERNMENTS HAVE FAILED to take one of the most basic precautions in banning "recreational" quail hunting taking place right now in SA and Vic.
To recap:
1. Our little native Quail lack genetic resistance and are highly susceptible to the virus, with 100% flock mortality in 24-48 hours, often with no prior visible symptoms.
2. Hunters, their dogs and vehicles, are highly likely to inadvertently spread the virus across agricultural landscapes and into domestic homes.
3. H5N1 has devastated wildlife populations including marsupials around the world. Dogs and cats are not immune.
4. While governments acted quickly to lock down areas of the less virulent avian influenza last year, they are yet to take action on this, despite their obligation to abide by the Precautionary Principle.
RVOTDS views this as negligence. Is an Australian class action shaping up?
