Free Palestine Melbourne

Free Palestine Melbourne Social justice NGO organising for a Free Palestine. The December meeting is usually replaced with a social event such as a BBQ.

Free Palestine Melbourne is a community organisation dedicated to raising public awareness of the Palestinians’ hundred year struggle for freedom. We seek to build Australian-Palestinian solidarity by engaging in political activism in Naarm (Melbourne) and joining international campaigns that oppose Israel’s ongoing colonisation of Palestine. Free Palestine Melbourne meets at 1pm on the second Sat

urday of each month with the exception of December and January. We meet at the Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre in Carlton. We welcome the participation of anyone who supports a just peace in Palestine based on universal human rights and international law. We also run a website, and regular newsletter, please sign up here: [email protected]. We also acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, live and organise - the Wurundjeri, Boon Wurrung and Wathaurong people and their Elders past, present and emerging, of the Kulin nation. Like in Palestine, sovereignty was never ceded and the struggle against settler-colonialism continues.

We run this page to share up-to-date topical information on issues that are affecting Palestinians and their struggle for justice and freedom. We are here as an unapologetically pro-Palestinian page. We welcome genuine discussion and opinions to help understanding of the situation as it is for Palestinians. In these discussions, we don’t delete or ban any opinions which disagree with other opinions. We do, however, delete comments that contain historical fallacies and political propaganda by antidemocratic organisations and individuals, irrespective of political leaning. This means that we do not tolerate any lies or propaganda that forward the agenda of extremist groups, hate speech, racism, xenophobia, antisemitism, the denial of proven crimes against humanity, the denial of the Nakba, racialized claims as to indigeneity or comments that depend on the erasure of the humanity of Palestinians. Rules for commenting:
** Remain civil and polite. We will delete any comments with personal insults, or attacks.
** Avoid partisan politics as far as you can. We reserve the right to cut off vitriolic debates.
** Hate speech in any direction will lead to a ban.
** Racism, Xenophobia, Antisemitism or any slamming of Palestinians will lead to an immediate ban.
** Partisan revisionism, especially Nakba or Holocaust denial will lead to an immediate ban.

The minimal time spent in transit with connecting flights continuing the journey to Israel is important. It shows the parts were not in the USA for sufficient time for further manufacture or repair, nor for storage in a US global F-35 parts hub. They flew from Australia through the United States to Israel in just two days.

This suggests the new routing may have been developed for the purpose of ‘origin laundering’, where Ministers and Defence officials in Australia could claim no F-35 weapons parts are being sent to Israel direct from Australia but are merely added to a global hub in the US to which Israel has access.

Following last year’s revelations of the secret shipping of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel through Thailand from Sydney, new documents show that parts are now being routed onto passenger jets through the United States.

“Australia is outraged the Israeli Government has decided not to pursue criminal proceedings against those responsible for killing Zomi Frankcom and her World Central Kitchen colleagues,” Wong said in her Thursday morning statement.

“The Australian government learned of Israel’s decision late last night, moments before it was announced, on World Humanitarian Day – which is especially insulting to Zomi’s loved ones, humanitarians and all Australians.

“Zomi represented the best of Australia. Her courage deserves to be celebrated. Her family deserves justice.”

"Well, this is essentially Israel throwing a poison pill into an agreement by including conditions that can never be met, because Israel can always claim, you know, there is still a Kalashnikov or a pistol or a slingshot, and thereby indefinitely — in other words, permanently — postpone the discharge of any of its own obligations. And you can say Kushner fell for it or Kushner is complicit in this, but the result is the same."

“This desecration, including the introduction of prayer books inside the mosque, forms part of the systematic dismantling of what remains of the historic status quo at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, with Itamar Ben Gvir determining what happens on the ground, with the approval of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”

Jewish worshippers are now allowed to bring prayer books into the Muslim holy site, flaunting the historic status quo in the latest escalation by authorities

The decision to remove the book was criticised by its author, Adam Johnson, who said calling Israel’s actions in Gaza a genocide was not “a fringe or radical position”.

“They seem to be objecting largely based on the title using the word ‘genocide’,” Johnson said.

“But ‘genocide’ is not my word, or my finding. The fact of genocide in Gaza is the overwhelming consensus of the human rights world, and it is a wholly mainstream opinion among those tasked with studying and determining such matters.

"Australia operates two systems of compassion. One converts pain into power. The other converts it into paperwork."

Andrew Brown of Michael West Media describes how Australian governments continue to ignore and trivialise systemic racism towards Aboriginal people, while confecting an enormous "antisemitism" industry on behalf of Australia's pro-genocide Israel Lobby.
