Around 90% of Barbara’s current bookshelf came from our Brunswick op shop! 📚💚
“I volunteer here because I love op shops a lot, and I thought it was time to get behind the other side of the counter and help in that way.”
She volunteered to be the book specialist in our Brunswick store which has helped us immensely, and has also helped her build up her book knowledge. She has a love of everything from fiction and nonfiction to picture books.
As a book editor, Barbara brings an expert eye for spotting first editions and collectables, and she makes sure they are priced correctly, or sends them to the rare and collectable section at our Brotherhood Books warehouse for collectors to find.
For Barbara, Wednesday means gym class, then her regular shift at the shop, catching up with her fellow volunteers and discovering what’s arrived on the shelves.
“The variety’s fantastic,” she says. “I really like the people I work with, too.”
Thanks for sharing your book knowledge and your Wednesdays with us, Barbara!
