𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣 featuring yoko ozawa 小澤陽子 and Jessye Wdowin-McGregor (Jessye Wdowin-McGregor)

In 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣, artists Yoko Ozawa and Jessye Wdowin-McGregor return to correspondences to explore different understandings of havens: physical places, processes, practices, rituals, objects, materials, and relations that provide safety, refuge and sanctuary for our bodies and minds.

Inspired by their shared love of concrete, shape, and visual poetry, 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣 features new works of ink drawing, haiku, sculpture, and printmaking by Yoko; and embroidery, sculpture, and drawing by Jessye.

Dates: 4/7 to 29/8
Opening event: Friday, 10/7/26.

Thank you for joining us for a tender night of music with singer-songwriter and her collaborator Phillip Cortes () last Saturday, presented as part of our residency project, 𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳.

Thank you, Imogen, for this moving performance and for the new songs shared under development - one inspired by and featuring words from Anna’s poem currently on display, and the other an ode to tenderness and our project, working title ‘Let me be tender’. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for these offerings. We warmly thank you for your tender, generous-hearted act. Thank you, Phil, for your beautiful vocals and guitar-playing.

We are always astonished by the immense talent, generosity, openness and collaborative power of the musicians that we have the great pleasure and honour of working with here in the space. This was another memorable occasion that will stay with us for a long time to come.

Small arts organisations like ours, galleries and live music venues, are struggling to continue programming at present. We rely heavily on finite public funds and the generosity of our patrons to continue. We thank you for buying a ticket and supporting this special evening. Long may it continue.

Last month, we were fortunate to have book conservator Emily Keppel with us as we explored how tenderness, tactile sensibility, and the simple gestures of gathering and holding objects shape our work and enrich our lives.

The starting point was a tender act.

Emily undertook a rare freelance project for me to conserve a little book belonging to my darling Dad.

I’ve begun to collect some thoughts on what this generous act has meant to me, and how it has inspired me to reflect more deeply on the tenderness I feel in Anna’s practice and in the world around me. Some words to follow.

In the meantime, some treasured images of Dad’s book, beautifully captured by Steph, also picturing selected details of Anna’s tender artworks.
