Motherhood is not a niche audience.
Discovering Matrescence.

There are millions of mothers navigating the realities of raising families, yet motherhood is too often treated as a side conversation rather than a significant life transition that deserves greater understanding and support.

Matrescence gives us a language for that transition. The physical, emotional, psychological and social changes that happen as we become mothers and continue to evolve through motherhood.

We need to be better educated, better supported and better equipped to navigate motherhood, in all its stages.

At Caring Mums, we believe mothers deserve support that recognises the whole person, not just the role they play within a family.

Because when we support mothers, we support families, communities and the next generation.

Motherhood matters. Mothers matter. And mothers deserve to be supported.

NCJWA Victoria’s Caring Mums program is proud to be supported by PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia) PANDA Australia helping ensure volunteers are equipped to provide informed, compassionate support to mothers during the transition to parenthood.

Supporting mums starts with supporting the people who walk alongside them. 💜

Our Caring Mums volunteers recently took part in professional development with PANDA Australia (Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia), led by Jenna Swift Jenna Swift, Communications Officer at PANDA.

The session provided valuable insights into perinatal mental health, equipping our volunteers with greater knowledge, confidence and practical tools to better support the women and families they connect with every day.

At NCJWA Victoria, we believe ongoing learning strengthens the care we provide and helps ensure no mum feels she has to navigate this journey alone.

A heartfelt thank you to Jenna and the PANDA team for sharing their expertise and helping empower our volunteers to make an even greater impact.

Are you a Jewish woman living in rural, regional or remote Australia? We want to hear from you.

Your experiences matter, and they can help shape how we better support Jewish women and strengthen our communities across Australia.

NCJWA, in partnership with the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ), is inviting Jewish women living outside metropolitan areas to complete a short survey. Your feedback will help identify the unique opportunities and challenges faced by women in regional, rural and remote communities.

🗓 Survey closes 31 July 2026.

Complete the survey here: https://lnkd.in/grsdhj7w

Please share this with family, friends and community members who may be interested. Every response helps build a clearer picture and informs future advocacy, programs and support.

Motherhood can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be profoundly isolating.

Research continues to highlight the impact of loneliness on maternal wellbeing, but behind every statistic is a mother seeking connection, confidence and support.

National Council of Jewish Women (NCJWA) Victoria we see this every day through Caring Mums, our volunteer-based early intervention program supporting women during pregnancy and the early years of parenting.

Because sometimes what a mum needs most is another mum.

For more than a decade, Caring Mums has helped over 1,000 families by providing practical and emotional support through trained volunteers, ensuring mothers feel seen, heard and connected during what can be one of life’s most challenging transitions.

Connection matters. Community matters. And no mother should have to navigate motherhood alone.

Together, we can help ensure that every mum has someone by her side. We love this initiative by mumwalkorg x the memo

When women are seen, communities are stronger.
Meet Kate Same, Program Manager of Make Space for Her (MSFH) at NCJWA Vic - home of the Leadership Accelerator for Jewish women.
Kate’s journey spans law, public policy advancing gender equality, and community leadership. Every move shaped by a desire to create meaningful change.
She’s also mum to three young daughters who remind her daily that perfection is overrated. We couldn’t agree more!
Applications for our 2026 cohort are now closed -and we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring this to life. We couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. Stay tuned launchpad
