Whilst our Fire Season doesn't start till the 1st October, some of our neighbouring districts in the Upper Hunter are starting their Fire Seasons a month early, on the 1st of September. It makes you realise, it really is time to consider your Fire Plans.

Even tho we still expect to see rain, weather forecasts are predicted to be hotter and drier then we have seen for some time. This can make fire weather conditions volatile, and whilst we always hope that Fire Season is uneventful.... it always pays to be prepared.

This means making or updating your Fire Plan, including making sure your whole family knows the plan.

Preparing your Home - Cleaning gutters and gardens, mowing the lawn, removing combustables away from the house, making sure all your garden hoses are in good working order and can reach every part of your home..... these are just some of the things you can do, to make your home as fire safe as possible.

Medowie crews were called out overnight to assist with a Motor Vehicle Accident where a car and B-Double fuel tanker has collided. It took rescue crews nearly an hour to free the driver of the car before they were treated by ambulance crews and eventually airlifted to hospital. Fortunately the fuel tanker was empty at the time.

Incredible work by all emergency services in some very difficult conditions.

That depsite not requiring a Fire Permit during the winter months, that it is still a Legal Requirement to submit an "Intention to Burn" at least 24hrs prior to lighting a pile.

That just like during Fire Season that there are regulations regarding Size, Location and What you are allowed to burn on your pile.

🚒🔥 REMEMBER 🔥🚒
Following the law, won't stop someone from calling 000, but it will stop us from having to put out your fire when we come for a visit.

IT'S FINALLY OFFICIAL!!!!!!

You may have seen this truck at our Station, driving around Medowie or at a Job, and wandered, what is that??!!

Up until now, we have had to keep it a "really bad" secret, but now the offical handover has taken place, we can tell you that it's Medowie's new Pumper. Affectionately known as "The Tatra"

It has already proven useful at multiple jobs and will help us keep our Medowie and surrounding residents safe.

If you see us driving around give us a wave or pop in to the station and say hello and have a look at the truck as we can now show it off and share photos with everyone.

We would like to give a shout out and Thank You to Ben from Medowie Meats for providing us with some amazing Bacon and Sausages this morning.

Every now and then we like to treat our members to a BBQ breakfast. Of course we like to support our local businesses, so of course ordered the meat from Ben... who promptly provided it to us, Free of charge, as a thank you from him, for the work we do.

So, Thank You Ben and Staff!! We appreciate you!! The fact that the produce 🥓🥩🍗🍖 you provide our community is delicious, just makes it even better!!

Last week we were invited to Medowie Public School, to give Stage 1 and Early Stage 1 students a chat about Fire Safety. The morning went really well, the children were very inquisitive, some even showing some really good knowledge already.
We hope they were all able to go home and discuss, home fire safety and evacuation drills with their parents.
It was a lovely surprise to receive some amazing cards from the children, showing their appreciation.

A massive THANK YOU to the kids and Teachers at Medowie Community Preschool , for letting us visit with them this past week, we had a great time and hope they have lots to talk to their parents about when they get home this afternoon.

UPDATE 2200Hrs: 1 North bound lane is now re opened.

UPDATE 2110Hrs: 1 South bound lane has currently reopened.

UPDATE: Both North and South bound lanes are currently blocked to allow for the tow trucks to do their job. Please be patient, and if possible avoid the area.

We are currently on scene at a Truck accident on the Pacific Hwy before the Tarrean Road turn off. Both north bound lanes are impacted causing major traffic delays.
Please avoid the area if possible.
