A special visitor to the Lairhouse 💜

We recently welcomed Jo from SOL Outreach, who joined us to pack mini hygiene packs for community members experiencing housing insecurity.

We love SOL Outreach’s focus on dignity, compassion and sustainability - values that align so closely with our own. These small packs contain practical essentials, but more importantly, they help ensure people can access everyday hygiene items with dignity.

It was wonderful having Jo working alongside our volunteers and seeing another batch of packs ready to head out into the community.

Thank you to everyone who sewed and donated zippered pouches and drawstring bags, and to our savvy shoppers and busy travellers who send us their hotel sized toiletries and washers so we can provide these packs.

Small essentials. A little kindness. A whole lot of dignity. 💜

This month’s Comfort & Care Kits are packed and ready to bring a little practical support and care to people doing it tough. 💙

A big thank you to Good360 Australia and their generous donors for giving charities like ours access to essential products at low or discounted cost.

Thanks to this support, this month’s kits include hairbrushes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand creams and body washes alongside the other essentials we pack into every kit.

Being able to source these everyday items affordably means the funds we raise stretch further, helping us continue packing 100 Comfort & Care Kits each month for people experiencing domestic violence, housing insecurity and other challenging circumstances.

At the end of our third packing session for the week we have sorted and packed an astounding 6,275 donations out to 15 organisations in 6 states and territories including these super cute soft toys who will be finding their way to our friends at Tassie Mums early next week.

And this is all thanks to our amazing volunteers, everyone who donates to us and all of you who shop at our social enterprise The Sewing Lair.

An incredible collection of handmade being delivered to our friends at kits for kids this week 💕

How adorable are these bundles created by our volunteers!

Each contains a quilt, soft toy and burp cloth, gifted to new Mums via Logan Hospital Perinatal Mental Health.

The service run a 6-week group with mothers and new babies teaching them how to bond with bub, and how to get back on top of their mental health.

As a Mumma of many I know how beneficial mental health support is, particularly in those early days and I love knowing we can show these Mummas they have a village that cares about them and their new bub.
