Those behind Wheelnutz Garage, Director Jade, CEO Gavin and GM Shannon are proud to launch The Australian Motorsports Mental Health Foundation Ltd

Operating as RaceMind Australia the national charity will bring mental health awareness and support into the motorsport community in a way that is practical and approachable.

The idea is simple: volunteers at motorsport events
around Australia, starting conversations, sharing information and encouraging early help-seeking.

Motor racing fans will be able to join as a member of the foundation, opening next week.

We would love to have you all onboard.💙

We want to keep being a place that is worth turning up to, and the only way to know that is to ask properly and write it down.

🐦🔧 Meet Wheel & Nutz 🐦
These two little tradies have been hanging around the workshop so much, we’ve decided they’re basically part of the team. We reckon they’re the new unofficial mascots of Jimboomba!
Unfortunately, there was just one problem… neither of them were wearing steel caps.
Workplace health & safety had to step in, and after a quick toolbox meeting, we had no choice but to ask Wheel & Nutz to leave the premises.
They’re welcome back anytime… once they’ve got the right PPE!

Today was one of those days that reminded us just how far Wheelnutz Garage has come.

We had a visit from NIISQ – the National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland, supporting a young mechanic from rural Queensland who is working towards getting back into the industry after a catastrophic workplace accident left him using a wheelchair.

Two Occupational Therapists came to Wheelnutz Garage to use our workshop as a real-world environment to assess practical workplace accommodations, looking at what could be adapted, what equipment might help, and what needs to change to make returning to work as a mechanic possible.

And that’s pretty bloody special.

For years we’ve talked about creating pathways into automotive employment for people with disability, challenging assumptions about what people can do, and showing industry that workplaces can adapt.

Now we’re being approached by Queensland Government services to help work through what those adaptations can actually look like.

We must be doing something right. 💙

But the best part is knowing that somewhere in rural Queensland, a young mechanic who has already been through more than most is looking at a future where getting back into the workshop might actually be possible.
