Joey Hike Adventure – 6 June 2026

The Joeys enjoyed a fantastic day out on Saturday, 6 June, with perfect sunny weather for their bushwalking adventure!

Starting from the northern terminus of the Bibbulmun Track, the Joeys set off on two secret missions:

🌿 Mission 1: Find the secret hideout – Jorgensen Hut
🔍 Mission 2: Spot as many items as possible on their Bush Bingo cards along the track

Guided by the Waugal trail markers, the Joeys followed the path through the bush, keeping their eyes open for clues, wildlife, plants, and other treasures from their Bush Bingo challenge. Along the way, they learned about the bush, practised their hiking skills, and enjoyed working together as a team.

After a successful trek, the Joeys reached their destination — Jorgensen Hut — where they celebrated completing their missions and enjoyed some well-earned refreshments.

It was a wonderful day of adventure, exploration, and fun in the great outdoors. A big thank you to all the parents who joined us and helped make the hike such a memorable experience for our Joeys!

🌞🥾🌿 Well done, Joeys — mission accomplished!

Jase and his Cub patrol spent the afternoon cycling around the beautiful Swan River! Starting from Fraser Point in East Perth, they stopped at Optus Stadium, Heirisson Island, The Old Mill, and Elizabeth Quay along the way. The Cubs enjoyed the scenic ride, the sunshine, and the fresh autumn weather. Jase did a great job leading the patrol using his map and compass skills throughout the journey.

Bryan chose a totally different location and activity, going hiking to Lesmurdie Falls with his patrol. The weather was on his side with sunny skies, even though there was wild winds the day before. Along the hiking trail, Bryan relied on his map to lead his patrol on the planned route, ending up at the beautiful gushing Lesmurdie Falls!

23/05/2026 Youth meeting

it was a highly engaging afternoon, with each section participating in activities that encouraged the development of new skills.

The Joeys embarked on a bushwalking adventure throughout the temple grounds. As they explored, they searched for special hiking and camping items hidden along their path. Each clue they discovered brought them closer to becoming skilled bushwalkers.
After their outdoor adventure, the Joeys practiced a new scouting skill: tying a clove hitch knot. The activity was filled with focused faces, tangled ropes, and a sense of pride as they successfully mastered the knot.
To conclude the session, the Joeys celebrated Ryan’s birthday, enjoying a lively tea party, sharing laughter, snacks, and warm birthday wishes. He was sooo happy to have received so much love and attention on his special day.

Meanwhile, the Cubs dove into a hands-on cooking session where they learned to make pasta from scratch using both traditional and modern methods—mixing and kneading the dough by hand, rolling it out, and cutting it into shape, as well as trying their hand at using a pasta machine. The activity was filled with excitement and teamwork as each patrol worked together to produce the best pasta.
Once the pasta was cooked, Aunty Grace and Venerable Miao Zhe stepped in as judges, evaluating each patrol’s creation for both taste and texture. Their efforts paid off, as the 3 patrols impressed the judges and received praise for their delicious results.

At the same time in the dining hall, the Scouts participated in a valuable lesson on fine dining etiquette—an entirely new experience for many. Recognizing their growth into young teenagers, Aunty Grace emphasized the importance of knowing how to set the table, use utensils correctly, and follow proper table manners. This session served as a practice run, preparing them for a future opportunity to put their etiquette skills to the test in a real restaurant setting.

09/05/2026 - Joeys Baking Day

Joeys had a fun time baking ANZAC biscuits, enough to feed the group! They were really serious throughout the process – weighing, mixing, rolling.

What we can say is that the Cubs and Scouts were full of praise as they whoofed the biscuits down in minutes.

Well done Joeys!

Viewing the photos and videos captured during ANZAC Day fills us with immense pride for our Scout group. As Australians, it is important that our children recognise and appreciate the story of the ANZACs. Ensuring this understanding allows us to honour their legacy and keep the memory alive for future generations. LEST WE FORGET.

From Joey Scouts through to Venturer Scouts, they marched together, respectfully attended the commemorative service, laid a wreath, and listened closely to the stories shared by the speakers.

Heartfelt thanks to all the leaders and adults who attended, participated, and assisted on the day. Their involvement was invaluable, providing us with an excellent opportunity to present our group to the broader public. Many people, previously unaware of our group, expressed curiosity and asked questions—demonstrating the positive impact our presence had.

Well done to everyone involved, and thank you for your effort and dedication. 🙏

11 & 12 April 2026 – Buddha’s Birthday & Multicultural Festival

What a busy weekend it was for all leaders, adult volunteers and Scout youths at the temple in celebration of the birth of Sakyamuni Buddha.

The Scouts managed a marquee dedicated to the event theme, “Harmony & Peace”. Through their efforts, they aimed to earn the Messenger of Peace badge by teaching visitors the importance of peace symbols. Activities included folding origami cranes and creating peace doves, which served as powerful representations of harmony. In addition, a special Peace Tree was adorned with reflections and messages, encouraging everyone to do good deeds, speak kind words, and think positive thoughts.

The Scouts embarked on the Lotus trail, visiting various stations at the event. They participated in art and craft activities, sampled different teas, learned to fold lotus flowers, practised meditation, and took part in the traditional bathing of the Buddha ritual. Each station offered a unique opportunity for learning and reflection.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the adult helpers and leaders who worked tirelessly to make the day enjoyable and enriching for the Scouts. Their dedication and support were instrumental in delivering a fun and fruitful experience for everyone involved.
