It was a privilege to be part of the 2026 Caring Connections Young Women Under 45 Breast Cancer Forum, where our Art Therapist, Abby, and Engagement Officer, Cait, presented and facilitated an art therapy workshop exploring identity and self-care.
A breast cancer diagnosis can change so much, including how we see ourselves. Together, we created space to pause, reflect, and ask not "Who am I?" but "Who am I right now?" Through creativity, conversation and connection, participants explored the many parts of themselves that continue to evolve beyond diagnosis, treatment and the expectations of others.
Art offered a gentle way to reconnect with the inner self, honour lived experiences and recognise that identity is not fixed, it grows and changes alongside us. Self-care, too, became more than something we do; it became an opportunity to nurture who we are in this moment.
A heartfelt thank you to Justine and Julia for your vision, care and dedication in bringing this incredible forum together. You created a welcoming space where young women could connect, share their stories, access valuable support, and be reminded that they are not alone.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared so openly. It was an honour to witness your courage, creativity and connection. ๐
