Hi everyone!

RPPP Community Workshops are on tonight at Westerway and Saturday in Maydena.

The upcoming workshops represent the third round of community engagement for the Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program and will provide an opportunity for community members to:
View and provide feedback on the draft reference design
Build a shared understanding of the design requirements and project constraints
Identify community concerns and potential mitigation measures.

Feedback from the workshops will inform the feasibility study. It will not change the scope of the study, which is focused on assessing a shared-use rail trail within the former rail corridor.

Decon Developments will be dismantling the two buildings during June & July, the items listed below will be available to give away.

📢 URGENT: Save Our Local Tip! 📢

As many of you know, the National Park tip has closed. The Council is calling it "non-compliance," but this sudden move feels more like a cost-cutting exercise that ignores the needs of our community.
Why this matters:
🚗 Higher Costs: Long drives to New Norfolk or Glenorchy mean more money spent on fuel during a cost-of-living crisis.
🚮 Illegal Dumping: We are already seeing rubbish dumped on private land and in Maydena and surrounding waterways. This is hazardous to wildlife, terrible for tourism, and a major public health risk.
📉 Service Cuts: Our rates are going up, yet essential services are being taken away. This is unacceptable!

Subject: Urgent Concern Regarding the Closure of the National Park Waste Transfer Station
Dear Mayor Dracoulis and Mr. Young,
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the sudden closure of the National Park Waste Transfer Station. While the Council has cited "non-compliance" and safety issues, this decision feels like a poorly planned cost-cutting exercise that will have significant negative impacts on our community.
The closure forces residents to drive to New Norfolk or Glenorchy, adding a substantial financial burden through increased fuel costs during an already difficult cost-of-living crisis. Furthermore, we are concerned this will lead to a rise in illegal dumping, the councils decision to remove the voucher system has already resulted in an increase. This not only damages our environment and public health—particularly in waterways around Maydena—but also harms our local tourism reputation and creates a costly cleanup burden for locals, businesses and Council.
As rates continue to rise, we expect essential services like local waste management to be maintained, not withdrawn. We urge the Council to find a sustainable solution for a local refuse site that serves both residents and businesses.

The next steps involve transforming the surrounding area into a vibrant space, adding the line markings, and with the assistance of DVC, installing the high-quality equipment.
