My father was a "If you got yourself up there, you can get yourself down" type of guy.

Great father.

Terrible air traffic controller.

🚨 SAVE THE CABOOLTURE WARPLANE MUSEUM! 🚨
For over 30 years, the Caboolture Warplane & Flight Heritage Museum has been a proudly volunteer-run treasure — sharing Australia’s aviation history through warbird displays, adventure flights, and hands-on experiences that inspire thousands every year.
Now, this beloved community icon is at risk of losing its home.
🏠 The museum’s hangar at Caboolture Airfield was recently sold, and a lease extension only runs until March 2026.
Without urgent help, the museum could be forced to close its doors forever.
✈️ The Caboolture Warplane Museum is one of Queensland’s unique cultural landmarks built by volunteers, sustained by passion, and loved by locals and visitors alike.
🖊️ There is a petition if you agree the Caboolture Warplane & Flight Heritage Museum should be saved:

NEW AUTOMATIC DEFIBRILLATOR TO BE INSTALLED

Our (currently slightly damaged) President has been able to aquire a fully automatic defibrillator at a discounted cost, and received Fraser Coast Regional Council funding for it.

Many thanks to Cr Paul Truscott for making our funding request possible, and to Crs Michelle Govers, Daniel Sanderson, Phil Truscott and Lachlan Cosgrove for providing some of their descretionary funds to help him pay for the unit.

This AED will provide peace of mind for members and visiting pilots/guests, and will be installed in our Club Rooms prior to the AGM in November.

(Preliminary Report) N261FC Piper PA-28-140 Royal Kunia Hawaii 27 MAR 2025

On March 27, 2025, about 1200 Hawaii-Aleutian Standard time, a Piper PA-28-140, N261FC, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Royal Kunia, Hawaii. The flight instructor and student pilot reported minor injuries.

The flight instructor and student departed Honolulu Airport (HNL), Honolulu, Hawaii for the student’s first instructional flight. As the airplane climbed to about 1,500 ft mean sea level (msl) the instructor reported feeling a slight vibration which he had not felt on the previous flight. The flight instructor initiated a climb and turned back to HNL. He then heard a loud bang, and the engine lost all power, and the nose of the airplane dropped.

The flight instructor subsequently initiated an off-airport emergency landing to a field. The airplane impacted several small trees and vegetation during landing resulting in substantial damage to the fuselage, wings and empennage.

After landing the flight instructor discovered that the propeller was missing; the propeller had separated from the airplane over a residential neighborhood and was found in the kitchen of one of the homes.

The propeller assembly has been retained for further examination.

FROM MONDURAN AERO CLUB

Just a quick reminder that this Sunday is our Fly Away Lunch at the Hotel Theodore.

Please aim to arrive at the airstrip by 11am. Jim has organised a bus to take everyone to the pub and return to the strip after lunch.

Saturday is expected to be rainy, but Sunday’s looking like a great flying day.

Theodore is the furthest we travel for a lunch event, so let’s make it a great one. Jim has booked for 20 people, a bit ambitious, but we’d love to see a strong turnout! Please let him know your numbers so the right size bus can be arranged.

Also, if anyone has a spare seat, there are two senior members looking for a lift.

Safe flying and enjoy the day.

Best regards,
William Mizzi
Secretary, Monduran Aero Club
On behalf of Jim Mullett – President
