Goldfield Citizens Against the Rail Trail

Goldfield Citizens Against the Rail Trail GCART has been formed to oppose the Maryborough-Castlemaine Rail Trail. We believe that the rail corridor should be restored, and passenger services reinstated.

GCART will lobby governments of all levels, Indigenous bodies, and residents of the Central Goldfields and Mount Alexander Shires.

GCART is urging people to take part in the survey currently underway into the feasibility of turning the Maryborough-Castlemaine rail corridor into a "rail trail." Only a majority of negative responses to the survey and active opposition to the plan for the rail trail will have any chance of stopping it.
