🇦🇺🇬🇷 The President of the Cretan Association recently presented the newly minted 2026 Battle of Crete & Greece 1941 – Service Amid Strife Commemorative Coins to a number of individuals in recognition of their contribution to preserving and promoting the legacy of the Battle of Crete and the Greek Campaign.

✈️💃 Members of our Performing Group recently travelled to Darwin and joined the combined national Cretan Federation dance group, performing at the Darwin GleNTi and showcasing Cretan culture and traditions alongside dancers from across Australia.

🇦🇺🇬🇷 We are proud to see our members representing our Association and contributing to this national initiative.

🎨 BATTLE OF CRETE ART COMPETITION 🎨

Congratulations to our Youth Committee on their successful Battle of Crete Art Competition, and to everyone that entered.

The Battle of Crete remains an important part of the shared history and friendship between Greece and the ANZACs. It is wonderful to see our youth learning about and commemorating this history through art, creativity and remembrance.

Well done to everyone involved for making the competition such a great success. 👏

We are very saddened to hear of the passing of long term member Paul Katakis. We send our deepest condolences to his family.

It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of a much-loved Father, Grandfather, Uncle & Friend, Paul Katakis.

The funeral service will be held at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Belmore at 10:00am on Friday 29th May 2026.

The wake will be held at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Hall.

The family would like to thank you for your warm condolences and support.

Paul was 81 when he passed away.
May his memory be eternal.
