Please pray for Fr. Aidan O' Kane CP ~
A Passionist priest has suffered a serious spinal injury after an accident while on pilgrimage in Medjugorje.
Fr Aidan O’Kane, who is originally from the Glens of Antrim, is now recovering after undergoing surgery.
It is understood that the Passionist priest fell while visiting the Bosnian pilgrimage site.
Fellow Passionist priest Fr Gary Donegan has asked people to keep Fr O’Kane in their prayers as he recovers from the serious injury.
Writing on Facebook, Fr Donegan said it remains unclear how successful the surgery has been.
He said: “Please keep my Brother Passionist Priest Fr Aidan O'Kane CP in your prayers. Aidan had an unfortunate accident and received a serious spinal injury and is now in recovery following surgery.”
“It remains to be seen how successful his surgery was; we can but pray. The cruel irony is he was convalescing from surgery as a result of a separate illness.”
Fr O’Kane was a late vocation to the Passionists and has held a number of roles within the order.
He previously served as Vicar and Bursar at Tobar Mhuire, as Assistant Director of Formation of Passionist students and was involved in the management of the Houben Centre in Ardoyne.
