🚨Currently in NSW, people in prison are only allowed one free call per week. After that, each 10-minute call is $2.59. This can cost over 15% of someone’s total weekly income while in prison - for one phone call. 🚨

Wirringa Baiya Aboriginal Women’s Legal Centre is inviting Aboriginal women working in community and Aboriginal community members to join an online consultation on NSW’s coercive control laws.

Come along to learn more about the laws, share your experiences, and have your say on what is working, what isn’t, and what changes are needed to better support Aboriginal women and our communities.

🚨 At 2pm AEST Monday 27 July, there will be a nationwide AusAlert device testing.

Devices (mobiles, smartwatches and tablets) will vibrate and play a siren-like warning sound for about 10 seconds - even if your device is on silent or ‘do not disturb’.

⚠️ If you have a safe device, or you know a loved one who might, consider telling them about this test in a safe way.

You can stop the alert before the test by:

👉🏾 turning off the mobile device or,
👉🏾 switching to aeroplane mode.

Today, we proudly celebrate Aboriginal Flag Day.

A day to honour a powerful symbol of identity, strength, resilience and connection to Country.

This year’s Aboriginal Flag Day falls during NAIDOC Week 2026, as we mark the theme “50 Years of Deadly”, celebrating five decades since the establishment of the first entirely Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led NAIDOC Committee.

Our flag tells a story of survival, pride and resistance. As we reflect on the generations who have paved the way, we also look forward with hope, continuing to walk together for the generations to come.

✊🏾 This year represents five decades of NAIDOC - and five decades of celebrating and recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander strength, resistance, culture and achievements since the very beginning, over 60,000 years ago.

We pay our respects to all those who built this movement - to our Elders past and present, to organisers, to artists, to communities, to mob.

NAIDOC is more than a week - it is a platform, a protest, a celebration, and a statement of survival.

The fight for justice continues. To the next 50 years, with our future generations. ✊🏾

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict.

The impacts of sexual violence are devastating and long-lasting - and harm that no one should ever go through.

In times of war, we continue to see sexual violence used to humiliate, dominate and break down people and communities. The physical and psychological toll it takes is horrific.

✊🏾 It is important we stand up and stand with victims and victim-survivors of sexual violence to break this tragic cycle of violence. We must do more to put an end to it.

Today is Mabo Day. It is also the last day of Reconciliation Week, calling for all people to be ‘All In’ in committing to reconciliation.

✊🏿 On this significant day, we acknowledge and honour Eddie Koiki Mabo, whose fight for justice overturned the idea of ‘terra nullius’, or ‘land belonging to no one’.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have lived on and cared for Country for tens of thousands of years. We must continue to listen to and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples - and fight for genuine commitment to better support our communities. 🖤💛❤💚💙💚

Today we acknowledge National Sorry Day, a day of reflection, remembrance and truth telling.

We honour the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations survivors, their families and communities, and remember those impacted by the ongoing effects of forced removal policies.

May we continue to listen, learn and walk together toward healing, justice and reconciliation.
