You can donate here: https://portal.legacyonline.com.au/pages/donation.aspx Legacy is dedicated to caring for the families of deceased and incapacitated veterans. Today Legacy's caring and compassionate service assists over 55,000 widows and 2,000 children and dependents with a disability. Legacy is a voluntary organisation supported by veterans, servicemen and women, and volunteers drawn from all

walks of life. Our support and services now extend to include the dependants of members of today's Australian Defence Force who lose their lives or their health as a result of their military service. Legacy is dedicated to enhancing the lives and opportunities of our families through innovative and practical programs aimed at:
the protection of individuals and families basic needs;
advocating for their entitlements, rights and benefits;
assisting families through bereavement; and
helping people thrive, despite their adversity and loss. There are over 5,900 volunteers around Australia who act as mentors to the widows and their families and who ensure Legacy’s promise to care for the families of deceased veterans is kept.

Legacy - founded on a promise.

In 1923, Legacy made a promise to help veterans’ families carry on with their lives after the loss or injury of their loved one. It was a simple promise that Legacy keeps today; providing the same stability, guidance and assistance that a partner would normally provide to his or her family.

Legatees uphold this promise. They are there to support veterans' families, whether it is picking up the phone, holding their hand through the grief or simply popping over to have a cup of tea. Their tireless work can mean a child gets an education and a fair go, a widow is not disadvantaged and alone, and a family is not torn apart by the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress or other physiological injuries.

On this day, April 25, we remember the ANZACs who landed on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey during WW1, 1915.

For the vast majority of the 16,000 Australians and New Zealander soldiers who landed that first day, this was their first experience of combat. By the evening, 2000 of them had been killed or wounded.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

On this day, April 24, we commemorate the Battle of Kapyong Korea (April 22 - 25, 1951). The men of the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) took part in one of the most signifcant battles since the end of World War II.

As a result, the South Korean capital, Seoul, was saved from falling back into Communist hands, with Australian troops adding a new chapter to the Anzac legend and were subsequently awarded the US Presidential Unit Citation for bravery along with the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, Company A & 72nd Heavy Tank Battalion (United States).

Often referred to as the "forgotten" war, today we remember the brave men of "Old Faithful" and all veterans of the Korean War, and acknowledge the sacrifices of the fallen, wounded and those of their families.

"Thanks to Legacy and your support, I didn't have to let my boys down."

Your donation meant the boys could remain in their family home and continue with the education that their father always wanted for them.

The future is looking bright for Amy's boys - one of the boys has attained a mentorship through a leading Legacy partner, and the oldest son is considering joining the RAAF just like his dad. None of this would be possible without you.

On this day, April 10, we commemorate Australia's first major battle of the Second World War - the Siege of Tobruk, which began in 1941.

Between April and August 1941, roughly 14,000 Australian soldiers were besieged in Tobruk by a German–Italian army commanded by General Erwin Rommel. Under siege, the defenders were forced to adjust to conditions such as sweltering heat and being under constant artillery and air bombardment. Food and water supplies decreased, and the soldiers were plagued by flies, fleas and illness. Nevertheless, morale remained high. The Australians even adopted the ironic nickname 'The Rats of Tobruk', in response to reports that N**i radio propagandist had described them as being caught 'like rats in a trap' in a broadcast.

Between April 8 and October 25, Australian casualties of the 9th Division totalled as 749 killed, 1,996 wounded and 604 prisoners.

"Without the support we receive from Legacy, I would have had to make some drastic decisions".

One of the things that had been playing on Amy’s mind was how she would be able to afford to keep the boys at the school that Tim had dearly wanted them to attend. After all, she only had her single income and no widow’s pension to rely on.

But thanks to a multi-year education grant which Amy successfully applied for through Legacy, a quality education for her boys was one less thing she had to worry about.

Your donation this Anzac Day will honour the fallen by ensuring that no veterans' family is disadvantaged due to their service. Donate today: www.legacy.com.au/anzac-day

It was on a Legacy Family Camp that Amy met other mums who had been through what she had been through. It was from these women that she learned what could be made possible with the help of Legacy and the generosity of our donors.

You can make sure no child is disadvantaged due to their parent's service by donating today... www.legacy.com.au/anzac-day
