SunnyKids

SunnyKids We’re determined to break the cycle of violence and disadvantage in our community.

For over 20 years, SunnyKids has been dedicated to early intervention, crisis support, and intensive family assistance on the Sunshine Coast through our innovative and evidence-based SunnyKids Village practice model. Our empowerment approach focuses on building resilience and skills in our clients, fostering accountability, and working at a pace that strengthens families over time. We are committe

d to tackling the growing challenges of youth disengagement from school and family, as well as the rise in adolescents entering the statutory Child Protection and Youth Justice Systems. Through our evidence-based model, we have found that the root causes of these issues often lie within the family and community dynamics, and frequently, it’s other family members who also require support. By working with the entire family, and using our five practice lenses, we are able to uncover and address the deeper, often hidden, issues that affect the adolescent, creating lasting change for all involved.

SunnyKids is thrilled to have received a $3,000 grant from Kinetic Moving Communities Fund to support the development of our New Cycle Game.

Designed for young people, the New Cycle Game will be an engaging and interactive resource focused on healthy relationships, respect and positive decision-making.

Through relatable scenarios, choices and consequences, the game will help create important conversations and give young people practical tools to recognise healthy behaviours and build positive relationships.

Kinetic’s Moving Communities Fund supports grassroots organisations working to address local needs and create stronger, more connected communities.

We are incredibly grateful to Kinetic for investing in this innovative new SunnyKids resource and helping us continue to find new ways to educate, empower and support young people in our community.

SunnyKids is incredibly grateful to Sunshine Coast Council for a $7,500 contribution towards landscaping our Transitional Housing project.

The funding has helped provide mulch, plants, fertiliser, pebbles and soil to transform the outdoor areas surrounding the homes into welcoming green spaces for the children and families who will call them home.

For families recovering from domestic and family violence, creating a sense of safety and calm extends beyond the four walls of a home. Thoughtfully designed gardens and green spaces provide areas where children can play, families can spend time together and those beginning a new chapter can feel a greater sense of peace and belonging.

With our first family now moving into Transitional Housing, seeing these homes and their surrounds come to life makes this support particularly meaningful.

Thank you to Sunshine Coast Council for helping us create not just safe housing, but a place where local families can begin to recover, heal and rebuild.

This week, we had the pleasure of celebrating the newly completed kitchen renovation at the Cooroy Family Support Centre alongside the incredible staff and students from Noosa Community Training Centre RTO #1810.

As part of their Certificate in Construction, these students gain valuable hands-on experience by working on real projects that make a difference in their local community - and we were thrilled to also celebrate them receiving their course certificates!

We’re incredibly grateful for our partnership with Noosa Community Training Centre. It’s a wonderful example of community collaboration in action - giving students the opportunity to build practical skills and experience, while helping SunnyKids create better spaces to support local children and families.

A huge thank you to Nick and all the students involved in bringing this project to life. Congratulations on your certificates - you should be very proud of what you’ve achieved!

What a wonderful night celebrating the people and organisations making a difference in our community!

SunnyKids was proud to sponsor this year’s Sunshine Coast Multicultural Gala, hosted by the Sunshine Coast Multicultural Communities Council, as well as the Community Impact Award - an award that strongly reflects what we believe in: the power of community, connection and creating positive change.

A huge congratulations to FESTURI, this year’s Community Impact Award recipient! Your commitment to bringing people together, celebrating culture and strengthening our community is truly deserving of this recognition.

We were so proud to be part of an evening that celebrated the incredible diversity of the Sunshine Coast and the people helping make our region a more connected and inclusive place for everyone.

Today, on World Humanitarian Day, we recognise the people who dedicate their lives to helping others and creating a better future for communities in need.

Humanitarian work is about compassion, connection and standing beside people when they need support the most.

At SunnyKids, we’re proud to play our part right here on the Sunshine Coast, supporting vulnerable children and families and helping create brighter futures for our local community.

Today, we say thank you to the people who show up, lend a hand and make a difference - both here at home and around the world.

Together, we can create a kinder, safer and more supportive world for everyone.
