This week our CEO Annie is in Perth, meeting with Chambers from across Western Australia as part of our important advocacy work.

These conversations are more than just meetings, they are an opportunity to ensure the voice of the Margaret River business community is heard at a broader level. By coming together with fellow Chambers, we can share local challenges, discuss emerging opportunities, and collaborate on solutions that benefit businesses across our region and the state.

Our collective voice carries greater influence, allowing us to champion the issues that matter most to our members and communities.

Meet The Team! 👋

Many of you will know our fearless leader Annie, who has been CEO of the Business Network for the past six years masterfully steering the organisation through challenges and triumphs. Annie sees local business as a cornerstone of community wellbeing, grounding us in genuine relationships and shared purpose, and enriching our community through the everyday service, generosity, and care that small businesses uniquely provide.

With a degree in Sustainable Tourism Development and qualifications in Leadership and Management she brings extensive experience to the role, but her real superpower is in the way she brings people together and creates connections throughout the community... and even better if it's over a glass of Margaret River wine!

Outside of the network, Annie is involved in a range of local initiatives, lending her expertise to community causes while raising her daughters and embracing everything our beautiful region has to offer.

Meet The Board! 👋

This week we’re introducing Amanda, another of our valued MRBN Board members.

With a background spanning tourism, business administration, accommodation management and business ownership, Amanda brings a wealth of experience.

Her career has included 12 years with CCIWA, working across administration and apprentice training, as well as two years in Broome supporting school and industry partnerships through a federally funded initiative. Locally she has called Margaret River home for the last 20 years, with 10 years working within the accommodation industry before purchasing and operating In-House Holidays for eight years. More recently, she became the owner of Margaret River Essentials on the main street, which she purchased just under a year ago.

Outside of work she enjoys walking her dog and exploring more of our beautiful region, and she is passionate about supporting the local business community.

Thanks Amanda for being part of the MRBN Board!

📢 This month, MRBN will join regional business organisations & chambers from across Western Australia to discuss the issues that matter most to our business community with Members of Parliament and key stakeholders.

📢 We can only advocate effectively for our MRBN members if we understand what's happening in your business.

Are rising costs creating challenges? Are fuel prices impacting your operations? Is housing affecting your ability to attract and retain staff? Are staff shortages or workforce costs creating pressure? Are there opportunities or barriers you'd like decision-makers to better understand?

We want to hear it all.

Every conversation and email helps us build a stronger case for our region and ensure our members' voices are represented where it matters most.

Meet The Board! 👋

Now in his third year on the MRBN Board, Mark is the creative force behind Granddog, a boutique Margaret River agency helping businesses locally, nationally and internationally bring their ideas to life through design, branding, print and marketing.

With more than 30 years in the advertising and graphic design world, Mark knows a thing or two about building brands that stand out from the pack.

When he’s not designing or brainstorming the next big idea, you’ll most likely find him out surfing and making the most of the incredible coastline we’re lucky to call home.

Originally from South Africa, Mark and his family have built a life in Margaret River over the past 4 years and feel deeply connected to the land, sea and community here.

We love having Mark’s creativity and perspective on the MRBN Board!

As the long weekend approaches, it’s the perfect time to shop local and support the businesses that make our community unique. ❤️

Every dollar spent with a local business helps strengthen our economy, support local jobs, and reinvest in the future of our region.

So whether it’s your morning coffee, lunch with friends, a little retail therapy, or booking a local service — choose local where you can and help keep Margaret River thriving. 🌿

Meet The Board! 👋

Barbara is a valued voice on the MRBN Board and a long-standing advocate for our business community. With more than 30 years of service to MRBN, including the past six years continuously, she brings extensive experience in small business, economic development, dispute resolution, community consultation, and public policy.

Her knowledge, leadership, and commitment continue to make a significant contribution to both our organisation and the broader business community.

The breadth of her experience covers many years and industries, including a Doctor of Education in Adult Education Administration, owner of the Margaret River Business Centre for 14 years, and a Founding Country Member of the Asia Regional Small Business Federation.

Off-duty you will find her relaxing with a crochet hook, and even after 34 years as an Australian citizen living in Margaret River, still considers herself a “blow‑in” from the USA.

We’re fortunate to have Barbara’s wisdom at our table.
