💜🧠 QUEENSLAND MENTAL HEALTH WEEK 2026 🧠💜

This week, we're recognising Queensland Mental Health Week, an important reminder that mental health matters to everyone, every day.

At Mareeba Community Centre, we believe that no one should have to face life's challenges alone. 💛

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and it's important to remember that it's okay to ask for help, it's okay to talk, and it's okay not to be okay. 🌿

Through our Myndkind and Distress Brief Support services, our team works alongside individuals experiencing emotional distress, mental health challenges or difficult life circumstances.

🤝 Reach out to someone who might need a chat
☕ Make time for connection and friendship
🌿 Prioritise your mental wellbeing
💬 Remember that asking for support is a sign of strength

🎉🌟 FUN FACT FRIDAY! 🌟🎉

🦘 Did you know Australia has more than 1,500 species of native bees? 🐝🌸

And here's something even more interesting...

Unlike European honeybees, many of Australia's native bees are solitary, meaning they live independently rather than in large colonies! 🏡

Some native bees are also excellent at buzz pollination, where they vibrate their bodies to release pollen from flowers. 🌼

These little workers play an important role in keeping our environment healthy and helping our plants thrive! 🌿💚

🪐 Did you know a day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus? 🤯

Venus takes about 243 Earth days to rotate once on its axis, but only around 225 Earth days to travel all the way around the Sun! ☀️

So technically, a Venusian day lasts longer than a Venusian year. 😲

And if that wasn't strange enough, Venus also rotates in the opposite direction to most planets!

Space really is a weird and wonderful place. 🚀✨

🦈 Did you know sharks are older than trees? 🌳😲

Sharks have been swimming in Earth's oceans for more than 400 million years, while the earliest known trees appeared millions of years later!

That means sharks were cruising around the planet before forests as we know them even existed. 🤯🌊

They've survived enormous changes to our planet and are still here today – now that's impressive!

🌟 FUN FACT FRIDAY! 🌟

🐨 Did you know koalas have fingerprints that are remarkably similar to human fingerprints? 👆😲

The ridges and patterns on a koala's fingertips are so similar to ours that they can be difficult to distinguish at a glance – even though humans and koalas are very distantly related!

Scientists believe their fingerprints may help koalas grip branches and handle eucalyptus leaves while climbing. 🌿🐨

Who would have thought one of Australia's cutest residents was walking around with its own set of fingerprints? 😂
