Backyards for Biodiversity SEQ Inc

Backyards for Biodiversity SEQ Inc Across urban areas of SE Queensland, our objective is to improve and expand native biodiversity. We want to teach residents about our wonderful flora and fauna.

Provide information about how to improve biodiversity within their backyards. Work with businesses and local governments to provide more biodiversity on the lands that they manage.

Merry Christmas to all the 'Backyarders'! I hope everyone has a great celebration tomorrow and folks get a chance to raise their glasses to the wonderful nature around us [and quietly dedicate themselves to growing more native plants next year...]

We are running an upcoming free webinar for people interested in learning more about native bees and the importance of pollination now that varroa is affecting honey bees.

Would we be able to post up a link to offer the people of the group access to the webinar?
Thanks

Id just like to invite everyone to a great FREE online webinar. You might be a beekeeper that is contemplating diversifying and incorporating native bees into your operation. Or are you a hobbyist that is thinking of converting to native bees due to varroa?

Focusing on native bee pollination and alternative future income streams from native bees.

Feel free to share post elsewhere.

Featuring Dr. James Makinson, one of Australia’s leading native bee researchers, as he shares cutting-edge insights into the efficacy of native stingless bees as pollinators. Discover the exciting potential of native bees across a range of different ecosystems and how people are beginning to understand their value for greater biodiversity and improved pollination for gardens and cropping.

This session will also delve into the growing demand for native bee pollination services in light of the threats posed by Varroa mite and the increasing need for pollination solutions that are sustainable, local, and resilient. We’ll explore why more people are turning to native bees — not only as a backup, but as a primary pollination force.
