There are currently a number of bird flu (avian influenza) detections in South Australia, so weβd like to remind our care recipients to take a few simple precautions when out and about.
If you come across a sick or dead wild bird:
β Please do not touch or handle the bird
π Keep children and pets away from it
𧀠Avoid contact with bird droppings and contaminated areas
π Report unusual or large numbers of sick or dead birds to the appropriate authorities.
At this stage, detections in South Australia remain primarily associated with wild birds, and there is no need for alarm. The best thing we can all do is follow the current advice and avoid unnecessary contact with sick or dead birds.
Please take care, especially when enjoying our beautiful local birdlife. ππ¦
