Here are three African Violets growing on my window sill. The very white variegated one in the foreground might not survive because it lacks green pigment, and green pigment is essential for photosynthesis. I love it, though, and will be doing my best to nurture it through the coming winter!
Our next African Violet Society meeting will be from 12 noon next Saturday, 18 April, at Manning Senior Citizens Centre, 3 Downey Drive, Manning (Perth, Western Australia). Members and visitors are most welcome.

This was our stall at the garden fair in South Perth the other day, taken just before opening time. We sold virtually all these plants and had to replenish the table a couple of times. We sold around 200 African Violets and other gesneriads - a great result! Our next meeting will be at Manning Senior Citizens Centre (Perth, Western Australia) on Saturday, 21 March, with members arriving from noon onwards. Guests are most welcome.

This is a Kohleria, a relative of the African Violet. It was grown by Linda Goodyear, our president, who hopes to register it soon. It's a gorgeous specimen! The African Violet Society of Western Australia resumes our meetings after the summer break, on Saturday, 21 February, from 12 noon at Manning Senior Citizens Centre here in Perth. Members and guests are most welcome.

This beautiful streptocarpus was grown by Linda Goodyear, our President. It's a NO ID but a gorgeous specimen! (Streps are members of the Gesneriad family and therefore related to African violets.) Our Society is taking a break over Christmas and our next meeting will be on Saturday, 21 February 2026. We wish you a warm, happy and safe festive season.

These are some of the African Violets and gesneriads at our meeting last Saturday. We are in Perth, Western Australia. A couple of our growers still have some plants for sale so, as Christmas approaches, if you're interested in purchasing an African violet, email us at: [email protected]
I will put you onto a grower if there are still plants available but it will be a case of "first in, first served". Our next meeting will be on 21 February, 2026.

I've been away for several weeks owing to a funeral, but I'm back on deck now. While I was away, I entrusted my husband with the care of my African violets. I was nervous about how he'd go (he doesn't love them like I do!) but my plants flourished while I was gone! Have a look at this "Stockholm", pictured here! Our November meeting will be on Saturday, 22nd, at Manning Senior Citizens Centre, from 12 noon. Members and visitors are welcome!
