This assortment of trash collected in just a few minutes from the shoreline at Manly Cove, Northern beaches is a reflection of our convenience driven, throw away society and its current apathy towards caring and protecting our natural environment.

72 everyday items polluting our waterways.
Mostly small but deadly to marine life and to every one of us as they break up over time.

Be the change you want to SEA 🌊 🌏

Start with -
πŸ‘‰ Taking your trash with you
πŸ‘‰ Influencing those around
πŸ‘‰ Pick up trash when you see it
πŸ‘‰ Don't tip items down the drain or
πŸ‘‰ Don't flush them down the loo !

Wednesday night was meant for enjoying the great outdoors!
Warm & balmy and simply perfect for watching the sun dip below the horizon.
We all love a picnic by the seashore, but far from lovely was the waste abandoned by everyone afterwards at this beaut spot.
Plenty of accessible bins in plain sight.

Surfrider Foundation Northern Beaches has teamed up with the Felons Brewing Co. Manly Run Club, meeting at Manly wharf every Wednesday night throughout October and November to care for the health of Manly Cove.

A big shout out to everyone that showed up to care for our Cove and show how we roll on the NB!
When our community comes together, small actions add up to a big difference.
Every piece of rubbish kept out of the harbour is a win for our local and for us!The positive impact we make here means a cleaner harbour for everyone.

It generates positive waves of change beyond our beaches - healthier oceans, means healthier marine ecosystems, healthier us and a stronger coastal economy.

Save the Date - Every Wednesday at 6.15pm
Meet at Manly wharf for a run or plog or after a day’s work, simply get the sand between your toes and do some good in the Manly hood.
Enjoy a cool one on Felons afterwards and celebrate your positive impact!
So much to love where we work, live and play!

Plastics aren’t just a pollution problem β€” they’re a health crisis. From birth to old age, plastics cause disease and death, costing the world over US$1.5 trillion every year. It’s time to hold producers accountable.

This is the only Dump we want on our beaches ! 🌊 🌊

We live in a magical part of the world with world class beaches and free public access and yet why do we continue to trash our own playground?

For some of us, the dunes at North Avalon, Narrabeen and Freshwater beaches have become dumping grounds.
Each month, the amazing Adopt a Beach community that come together to clean up our coast are retrieving large bulky household goods, sofas, chairs, shopping trolleys, bbq's, surfboards, clothing, totalling 527 kg of waste collected todate and a whopping 1,390 cans & bottles in just 6 sessions along with other hazardous paraphernalia left behind by reckless partygoers.

This complete disregard for our natural environment is far from cool and 100% preventable.
It's time. Clean up your act.
If this is your hang of choice, respect your local or this right to enjoy it will be lost.

Remember what's at stake, the choices you make today decide whether tomorrow looks like a Northern beaches paradise or a dump heap and polluted shoreline.

Protecting our local means healthy beaches, healthy ecosystems and safe, beautiful spaces for all our coastal community to enjoy .
Enjoy the good times BUT leave no behinds! πŸ€™

As our local surfing community comes to terms with the loss of one of Northern Beaches favourite surfers, Surfrider Foundation Northern Beaches wishes to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Psillakis family and friends.

In the words of Brendan Donohoe, SFNB Branch President β€œMercs was such a sweet guy, totally committed and an excellent surfer. He wasn’t a kinda surfer, he was ALL surfer. A frother through and through.”

If you are wondering how you can help, friends of Mercury have created a Go Fund me page for his family.
