Join us this Friday night at 7.30pm at the Clem Collins Centre in the Northcliffe Rec Ground for a night of stargazing!
Local astronomy enthusiast Joanna Davis is part way through a Masters in Astronomy and taught Science and Upper School Physics for several years in Australia and Britain. Joanne also recently completed a Doctor of Jurisprudence, a fancy title for studying law, but on this occasion, she will be sharing another of my great passions – the laws of the universe. Joanne will be talking about the origins of the cosmos, how the stars are formed and a bit on the history of astronomy. She'll guide you through our current knowledge of the solar system and how to find your way around the night sky.
If the sky’s clear, we can look at the planets, constellations and other fascinating objects with the naked eye and binoculars and telescopes, which you may feel free to bring if you have them. For the astrophotography enthusiasts, bring your phone, camera and tripod. Please bring torches for moving around the oval in the dark.
Look forward to “looking up” with you.
Meet at the Clem Collins Centre, Northcliffe Recreation Ground, George Gardner Drive at 7.30pm. For more information or to RSVP, contact Wendy from Southern Forests Community Landcare and Southern Forests Photography Club via text 0434 811 474 or [email protected]
