From the 27th of May to the 3rd of June, we celebrate National Reconciliation Week, a chance to come together, listen, and support truth-telling and understanding. This year is "All In For Reconciliation". Let’s keep working towards a fair and inclusive Australia for everyone.

We can all take meaningful steps toward strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non‑Indigenous Australians. Every action, big or small, helps build a more connected future.

Follow Reconciliation Australia for more information! To see events that will be running in this week, you can access the Reconciliation Events Calendar here https://www.reconciliation.org.au/calendar

Today we were lucky enough to spend some time with Justine and Michelle from the Dudley Park Child and Parent Centre. Collaboration has always been at the heart of what we do, and it’s inspiring to work alongside people who are so passionate about keeping children and young people at the centre of every decision.

We’re grateful for the connection we’ve built over the years and we are excited to keep growing this beautiful partnership. Here’s to creating more opportunities, supporting our young people, and giving back to our community together.

Join us for a candlelight vigil in reflection and remembrance of women and children impacted by family and domestic violence.

We will hold out candles for those affected by violence and reaffirm our commitment to creating a safer community for all.

Staff Recognition Post! ✨

Our amazing Student Wellbeing Officer Helen has been running meditation sessions for both staff and students in her school. These sessions have become increasingly popular and such an important part of the day!

Helen shared some more information with us, about how these sessions came to be.

"Our Thursday lunchtime meditation started with one student in week 4 of term one and has now grown to approximately 15 students (and counting) and a handful of staff. These sessions help students and staff find a pocket of calm and balance at the end of the week, with reports that attendees feel relaxed and settled afterwards.

I have also conducted these sessions in class after lunch, at teacher's request. The teachers have reported their students 'loved it'. Teachers have noticed significant changes in student behaviour afterwards, with the whole class more relaxed and more receptive to teaching and learning".

Keep up the incredible work Helen!

Staff Recognition Post! ✨

Huge shout‑out to our amazing Student Wellbeing Officer, Bec, for the incredible work she put into her schools' Harmony Week activity this year! Bec gave us a run down of her activity and what it means to the students and staff.

"As our school is small but also so culturally diverse, we thought it would be a nice idea to show how we are all important and are growing alongside each other by doing a harmony handprint tree. Each class came down to art room and did their individual hand prints and we spoke about what harmony week means. We tried to make sure every student and staff member were involved and made adjustments for those with sensory needs.

The tree is now up in the school wellbeing room, and it is lovely to see the students come in and try to find their handprint and name. It's been really useful as a calming/grounding technique as well and they can find their handprints when they're struggling. It also strengthens the students idea of belonging and I like to think it helps them know that they aren't alone!"

It was a tree-mendous effort for all involved! 😜

🙋Thank a Youth Worker Day 🙋

Today we thank the wonderful Youth Workers who help support young people with their personal, social, and educational development. Youth Workers at Choyces foster meaningful relationships, so that people feel connected and valued. Our organisation is built on supporting young people and helping them achieve their goals in life, this isn't possible without Youth Workers! We currently have 4 dedicated Youth Workers and 22 Student Wellbeing Officers who also provide a youth work service in schools.

So today we say a huge THANK YOU to all Youth Workers 🥰
