FIFO Family Services is the legacy of James Dowdell, a former FIFO worker who saw first hand the effects of the FIFO experience, on the workers and their families. FIFO Family Services was created to help tackle the ever surmounting mental health concerns within the FIFO community, both on and off site. Working FIFO can be a hard environment, and is sometimes the only option available, but it can
take its toll on all parties involved, workers, families and children. It is a totally different lifestyle, and whether you are new to FIFO, or you are a long term FIFO veteran, the statistics say that within the normal community, 1 in 3 of us will experience depression, with this statistic doubling within the FIFO community. It is okay to talk to a professional, someone who won't judge, someone that isn't apart of your social circle. It is okay to not be okay and to be able to say that. FIFO Family Services offers professional counseling and support at minimal cost, as we believe that its about the person not the money, so please, if you feel you are struggling, and you find yourself needing an outlet, a place to download your worries, come and say hi, have a cuppa and take a load off for a while. FIFO Family Services is a strong advocate for supplying mental health workers on sites in order to help reduce incidences related to seperation, isolation, depression, family dramas, and personal issues.
