Saturday afternoon saw crews respond to a distress call where a jetski rider had come off their jetski.

Due to the rough conditions, the rider had become separated from their vessel and was unable to get back on board.

Thankfully Marine Safety located the rider on a nearby boat, that was moored, and brought the rider back to safety.

MRM were able to locate the jetski and return it back to the boat ramp.

Yet again, PEEL COMMUNITY BINGO have supported Marine Rescue Mandurah with a donation that now enables each of our vessels have hand held night vision equipment. With this latest donation, a thermal imaging monocular was purchased for our fast response vessel Rita G. This monocular has already been used at night and is a proven valuable asset in our search and rescue arsenal.
Again, a big thank you to PEEL COMMUNITY BINGO for their ongoing support of our Group.

This week's training: In addition to Towing and Rafting and Man Overboard, we included our latest training tool. This is a Training Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon which is preset to a training frequency to ensure it does not interrupt the official EPIRB frequency. The Beacon was set off somewhere in Comet Bay and, later, Spirit of Mandurah and Rita G were tasked with locating it. This gave the crews firsthand experience as to how the Radio Direction Finder works. This was definitely a good investment for the Group thanks to the generosity of supporters.
