Another great annual trip down to Northcliffe by Moses and Michelle from the John’s Vision team!

This marks our third year visiting the beautiful Northcliffe. It’s a privilege to provide eye care to help ensure everyone has access to quality vision care, no matter where they live.

A special thank you to Sophy Kyi for generously supplying donated frames for our visit, helping people in our regional communities access the eyewear they need.

Thank you to everyone who came in to see us during our visit. We truly appreciate the warm welcome and the trust you place in us, and we look forward to returning again next year.

Exciting news, John's Vision was recently awarded a community grant from Vicinity Rockingham. The grant will go to a new fundus camera and enhance our patient care.

Furthermore, we were priveleged to have Cheryse volunteer at our Rockingham clinic.

We are deeply grateful to Vicinity and Cheryse for their support of our cause.

Meet Toby! 👓

Toby has been relying on off-the-shelf glasses from the chemist, but they're no longer cutting it for him. He needs proper prescription glasses to ensure he can read comfortably. Plus, when he's not working, Toby loves gaming! He even brought in his own frames because he's attached to them – he just needs the lenses sorted, and that's where we step in.

Meet Judith! 👓

Judith visited us because her glasses from 5 years ago weren't doing the trick anymore. After examination, we discovered she had developing cataracts, which explained her declining vision. Thankfully, it's not severe enough to require surgery yet – a relief for Judith! We're providing her with two pairs of glasses on the house because we believe she truly needs both, especially for driving and reading her mobile.

Meet Matt! 👓

Matt paid us a visit, likely persuaded by Jody (remember her from last week's post!). He didn't have any specific concerns but wanted to ensure his eyes were healthy. To his surprise, he found out he needed reading glasses. Despite some initial hesitation, he decided to give them a try, realizing how much they improved his vision without strain. We're confident he'll love his new glasses!

Meet Jody! 👓

Despite facing multiple eye surgeries before the age of eight to correct her lazy eyes caused by past trauma, Jody remains resilient. Today, she visited us experiencing difficulties with small print and reading on her mobile. The joy on her face while choosing frames was priceless, eagerly awaiting the day she can see clearly again! Just look at that radiant smile! 😊

Meet Kay! 👓

Kay used to struggle with tiredness and headaches while reading, often experiencing blurry vision and difficulty focusing up close. On top of that, she battled watery and dry eyes, a result of blepharitis (inflamed eyelids) and dry eye syndrome. We stepped in to assist her with a pair of custom-made prescription reading glasses and offered advice on lid hygiene and eye drops to keep her eyes comfortable all day long!

Kay discovered our services through a flyer and wants to encourage others facing similar challenges to seek help too!

Since 2022, Bendigo Bank has been by our side as we provide affordable eye care to the homeless and financially challenged. Their recent grant of 4500 AUD means the world to us! 🌟

In just one day, we served 12 amazing individuals, providing glasses for 11 of them! 💖

Last week, our team from John's Vision Inc visited the Northcliffe family and community center.

Moses and Michelle met people facing immense challenges - from financial barriers to simply being unable to drive to get the care they need. One patient hadn't had their eyes checked in over a decade, despite needing glasses with a prescription of -5.00! 😔

But amidst these challenges, there were moments of hope. We identified a glaucoma suspect and referred two patients for specialised care. And of course, Moses even had a little fun playing footy with some emus at Pemberton Oval! 😄
