Do you know a young person in the Mulloon, Manar, Warri, Mayfield, Foxs Elbow or surrounding area who is over 12 and would like to learn valuable skills, gain qualifications and get involved in their community in meaningful ways?

Mulloon Juniors have gone on to careers in law enforcement, defence, public safety and emergency services — with RFS skills, qualifications and experience on their résumés.

It’s a great way for young people to step up, challenge themselves and shine.

In the words of our Junior Coordinator: “When adults let them, young people do amazing things.”

Morning Guys - The RFS is holding its annual Get Ready Weekend over the 19th and 20th September. The Mulloon RFB is going to be out and about on the 20th September, and will be spending about 45 minutes at 5 locations around the Mulloon Area. Residents, and anyone driving past, are welcome to drop by and say hello, meet some of your local RFS members, have a look at our new fire appliances, and learn a little about preparing for the upcoming fire season. Our planned schedule is :

• Cnr of Kings Hwy and Mulloon Road (where the track heads off to the quarry) - Onsite from 9:00am through 9:45am
• Dog Rock Close - Onsite from 10:15am through 10:45am
• Corner of Kings Hwy and Manar Road (just near the post box) - Onsite from 11:15am through 12:00pm
• Mayfield Estate (Matt and Amy's place) - Onsite from 12:45pm through 13:30pm
• Cnr of Kings Hwy and Foxs Elbow Rd (near the post boxes) - Onsite 14:00pm through 14:45pm.

Tomorrow (Monday 27 July) will be the national test of AusAlert. This will happen at 2pm (NSW/ACT time). You don’t need to do anything if you receive the alert. However, if you do NOT receive the signal, please provide information to https://www.ausalert.gov.au/feedback

This alert will be available on most phones, and some smart watches and tablets.

AusAlert will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, the system needs to be tested across Australia.

G’day Folks! Please note this important message from QPRC regarding the upcoming Ausalert trial in our area! This is wonderful technology which will keep us better informed about all manner of emergencies. 😊❤️

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, the Australian Government needs to test the system in communities across Australia, and Queanbeyan, has been chosen as a test location.

At 2:00pm on Sunday 21 June 2026, AusAlert community testing is happening in the area between Yass Road, Silva Avenue and Aurora Avenue. If you’re in this location or in the Queanbeyan area at the time of the test, you may receive a test alert on your mobile phone, tablet or smart watch.

The AusAlert test in your area is a Priority Alert. It will vibrate and include a loud siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds.

If receiving the test could disrupt you or cause you or someone you know to feel unsafe, visit the AusAlert website at ausalert.gov.au to find out how to turn a Priority Alert off on your device.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

We love all our mum- members.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the strength, dedication and compassion of mums everywhere, but especially those in our family.

Across the state, thousands of mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, stepmothers and aunties give their time to help protect their communities. Whether they're on the frontline or supporting behind the scenes their contributions are extraordinary.

Today, we thank them for all they do, not just as RFS members, but as leaders and role models in our brigades and communities.
