🕊️ Remembering Bronte

As part of Pet Memorial Month, we’re sharing some beautiful tributes to beloved SADS pets who have sadly passed, but will always remain a part of the families who loved them. ❤️

Bronte was adopted from SADS at 13 years old. Her family had just 2½ years with her, but in that time, she became so much more than a rescue dog, she became a much loved family member and a best friend.

She was there through the everyday moments that become the memories we treasure most, running, playing, watching TV and, of course, lots of cuddles. She even met the family’s bunnies, who she was initially very curious about before happily learning to leave them be. 🐰❤️

Bronte was loved and cared for as a senior deserves, and she gave that love back unconditionally.

We’re so grateful to Bronte’s family for opening their hearts to a 13 year old dog and showing her that it’s never too late to find a family. She was a beautiful girl, and it’s so clear just how deeply she was loved.

It may have been a short time, but it was everything. 🥹🩵

Bronte will forever be remembered, forever loved, and forever a part of the family who gave her those precious final years. 🐾🌈

🐾 Foster Update: Bliss & Humbug 🩷🖤

These two have become the sweetest pair, and watching their friendship blossom has been one of the most rewarding parts of fostering.

Bliss is living her absolute best life. 💕 She has come so far from the scared little girl who first arrived. These days, you’ll usually find her stretched out on the couch (her favourite place!), soaking up pats, chin scratches, and cuddles. She truly thrives when her people are home and would love a family where someone is around for plenty of company.

Then there’s Humbug… our tiny collector of treasures. 🖤

This little guy is full of curiosity and mischief. String, balls, paper, socks, if he can carry it, it’s a toy! He loves hiding his “treasures” under the couch and is very food motivated. While he’s still a little cautious at times, he’s grown so much in confidence thanks to Bliss and Timmy.

The best part has been watching Bliss become the big sister Humbug never knew he needed. 🥹

They look after each other, play together, eat together, and often nap side by side. Bliss has helped Humbug grow in confidence, while Humbug has brought out Bliss’s playful side.

We’d absolutely love to see them find a forever home together. They truly bring out the best in each other, and whoever adopts them will be getting twice the love, twice the fun, and one very special friendship. ❤️🐾

Not every dog is for every home, but Marlo could be perfect for the right one. ❤️

Marlo is a 5 year old Poodle X Labrador who has spent most of his life in a home environment and is now looking for a second chance with the right family.

✅ Medium energy level
✅ Toilet trained
✅ Needs to be in an only dog home
✅ People focused

Marlo was surrendered due to guarding behaviours. While we have not observed this behaviour during his time in the shelter, we are very aware that it exists and will need to be managed in the home. Because of this, Marlo will need an experienced owner who understands boundaries, structure, and how to safely navigate and manage these behaviours.

Marlo has shown mixed responses to other dogs, he may like some, but not others, with no clear pattern. For this reason, he will need to be the only dog in the home to ensure everyone stays safe and comfortable. He is not suitable to live with children and will do best in an adult only home where he can have consistency, routine, and clear leadership.

With the right person, Marlo has the potential to settle back into home life and be a loyal companion. He just needs someone who understands him and is willing to give him the guidance and stability he deserves.

Pet Memorial Month, Remembering the Ones Who Made Us 🕊️

Throughout September, we want to take some time to remember and celebrate the animals who may no longer be by our side, but who will always be a part of who we are.

The ones who grew up alongside us.
The ones who got us through the hardest days.
The ones who made us laugh, taught us unconditional love, and left paw prints that never really fade. ❤️

For the entire month of September, we’ll be keeping this post pinned to the top of our page as a special place for our community to remember them.

We invite you to share a photo, their name and their story in the comments below. Tell us what made them special, your favourite memory, or simply how much they meant to you.

Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing some of your beautiful tributes and helping their stories live on.

She’s still waiting for someone to choose her. 💛

Tangelo isn’t the loudest cat in the room. She doesn’t demand attention or leap into every lap. She’s independent, a little sassy, and she needs time to feel safe. But she’s also beautiful, affectionate in her own way, and such an amazing cat, you just have to get to know her.

She’s looking for a calm, adult only home where she can be the only pet and remain indoors, just as she’s always known. She takes a long time to settle, but once she trusts you, she’s deeply loyal, sweet on her own terms, and truly an incredible companion. Tangelo thrives in a predictable, quiet environment and would do best with someone who understands cat body language and respects her boundaries.

She’s not for everyone, she’s waiting for the right person who will give her the love and patience she deserves. 🤎

🎉 HAPPY ADOPTION, TONKA! 🎉

After around 3 years of waiting, our invisible boy Tonka has finally found his forever home. ❤️

Tonka has been posted time and time again, constantly overlooked, and along the way had a handful of applications that weren’t the right fit, as well as a couple of times when people didn’t follow through with meeting him.

But finally, his family came along… and we couldn’t be happier for him. 🥹

Here’s an update from his new family:

“He really is a special boy. He is settling in really well. The first night with us he slept in the bed right next to me and didn’t move. Last night he had many comfy options (including the human bed) but he wanted to sleep out in the lounge room by himself under the blankets.

I take him on a morning and afternoon walk every day and he is becoming familiar with the neighbourhood.

He often has a confused look on his face with all the new sights and sounds, trying to figure out what’s going on.

He’s a mummy’s boy at the moment but he is quickly warming up to Jason, so no doubt he’ll be a daddy’s boy in no time, plus Jason does all the cooking. 😬 Hey, you may not know this about Tonka, but he loves his tucker. 😂🙄❤️

This morning after his walk, he got a raz going and initiated a playful run around the house, dodging the furniture and flicking his toys up in the air. It was very cute.

Right now he is sleeping soundly on his new comfy bed.

I’m really falling deeply in love with him. He is exactly what we need after losing our beloved staffy 2 weeks ago.

It is evident that he was very loved and cared for at SADS. Thank you.

Ps. I’m glad he was “the invisible boy” otherwise we wouldn’t be blessed with this amazing boy. xx

He has definitely won the doggie lotto. ❤️

After being overlooked for so long, seeing Tonka now settling into his new home, honestly means the world to us. 🥹❤️

We’re so grateful to his new family for seeing the beautiful boy we’ve always known he was and giving him the forever home he waited so patiently for.

Don’t let her name fool you; G-Force is much more of a couch potato than a speed machine!

At around 6 years old, this beautiful girl is looking for a calm, loving home where she can enjoy life at her own pace. She may take a little time to trust new people, but once she does, you’ll discover her sweet and gentle side. She’s the kind of cat who enjoys your company without needing to be the centre of attention.

G-Force has only ever known one home before coming into care, so it’s been a big adjustment for her. Through it all, she’s shown just how resilient she is.

She’s looking for an adult only home, or one with cat-savvy teenagers who understand and respect feline boundaries. G-Force has also made it very clear that she’d like to be the only cat in the household so she can soak up all the love herself.

An indoor only home (or one with a secure cat enclosure) would be perfect for this laid back lady.

If you’re looking for a quiet, independent companion who’ll happily share the couch with you, G-Force could be your perfect match. 🐾💛

Thor isn’t just looking for a home, he’s looking for his person. 🐕❤️

Thor is a fun loving young dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He absolutely loves people and is always ready for an adventure, making him the perfect companion for an active family.

✅ Friendly and affectionate boy
✅ Great with other dogs
✅ Needs ongoing training and guidance
✅ High energy level

Thor has shown himself to be very respectful with other dogs while still enjoying a good play. He has lovely social skills and reads other dogs well, making him a great canine companion. Like any young dog, he is still learning and will benefit from continued training to help him become the best version of himself.

Thor is looking for an active home that is committed to continuing his training and providing him with plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation. Due to his boisterous nature, he is not suitable for a home with very young children. With the right guidance, Thor will grow into a loyal, loving and well rounded companion.
