In support of Muzafar Ali's 'Ride for Education' a Warwick group is doing a fundraiser showing Muzafar's documentary Watandar, My Countryman - a message from Bob Wilson of Southern Downs Refugee and Migrant Network.
'I thought you might like to know that our Refugee Support Group in Warwick is holding a film screening of Muzafar's documentary, Watandar, My Countryman in Refugee Week. Two of our members are on Rural Australians for Refugees Afghan subcommittee so we decided to screen the film for Muzafars bike ride. I gather he is starting the ride in Maleny as a result of the fund raising and other work done by Welcome to Maleny. As president of Southern Downs Refugee and Migrant Network, I ask you to convey this information to the group.
Many thanks for your great work Bob Wilson and Southern Downs Refugee and Migrant Network.

Beautiful Hazara Handicrafts for Sale at the Doco Screening tonight and Concert tomorrow. All funds go back to the women who made them.
This range of handicrafts has been skilfully created by two Hazara women from Afghanistan. For the past 9 years, they have been living in limbo as refugees in Indonesia, with their family of seven.
Here are some words from one of Zahra’s (pictured embroidering) daughters. For privacy and safety reasons, the family members do not wish for their faces to be photographed.
My name is Wajiha. I am a Hazara woman from Afghanistan. I have been stuck in Indonesia with my family for nine years, waiting to be resettled.
As refugees, it is illegal for us to work in Indonesia. However, as a hobby, my mother, Zahra, and sister-in-law, Nasima, have made these crocheted handicrafts.
These crafted bags display the cultural value of our country. From ancient time, women from Afghanistan are well known to shape their love and bring them to life, moreover, to express their affection, they present their handmade creations to their loved ones.”
