What an absolutely amazing community we have in Maldon.
Derby Hill is ready for the Blaze Aid team to come in and take up residence and we couldn’t be more prouder of what we accomplished today.
Cobwebs, dust and leaves removed, beds, floors, bathroom, toilets, kitchen, conference room, recreation space all cleared, vacuumed, mopped and clean.
We have to mention this wouldn’t have been able to happen without the amazing support of the owner Mark Ward. Thank you sincerely.
On Saturday a small group of locals were chatting and thought “I wonder if Mark would let Derby Hill be used for the fires” so we asked.
Noddy as care-taker has been extremely supportive in helping and we can’t thank him enough.
We had an issue with power in one of the areas - thanks to Kirk at KAW Electrical & Solar, he had that repaired before the end of the day.
Martin Mulholland was called in to look over the gas and aircon as they hadn’t been used in a while. All checked and ready to go.
Nathan from Wollies Handyman. Well what can I say. What a gun. This chap is outstanding. He does everything. Sinks leaps- get Nate, door locks buggered- get Nate, lights not good- Nate, tree pruning-Nate, table broken -Nate.
Dean Nock - chimney cleaner beings along his ute and trailer has removed foliageand his goats will be happy.
Mt Alexander Shire fixing the drive for the vehicles to enter safely.
Members came from Carisbrook Lions and SES Rose and Tyson Lucas, the best window cleaner and daughter Alexis Lucas.
Now to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to the amazing volunteers today.
Rhiannon Govier, Jonathan Ashley, David Brown, Linda Hickey, Daryl Walker, George Healy, Robert Hall, Kerryn Healy, Kirsty Laecombe, Layton Muller, Julie Hill, James Hill, Leisa Kelley, Uschi Crowe, Suki Crowe, Lily Bee(Bancavich), Lillie Gover, & Shan MW. I’m sorry if I missed anyone.
Thank you for all you hard work.
Thank to the wonderful donations from Mark Ward, from the Lions club providing water and lunch, the Maldon post office for the water, the Lucas family with fruit and those who brought cleaning supplies.
Peter Thompson for getting the gas sorted.
Our hearts are full.

It takes a team 🙂

UPDATE
Hi Everyone
Thank you all for you support.
The clean up is happen today(Wednesday)
We currently have some amazing people helping.
What a fabulous community we have.

But I’m sure over the next few weeks Blaze Aid may need our community support. We are calling for volunteers to help clean the Derby Hill facility to support the Lions Club and Blaze Aid in helping the community around us who have been impacted by the fires.

Even an hour of your time would be welcome and appreciated.

A huge thank you to Mark Ward who has opened to doors to the facility and well known community members Noddy for helping us out.

We are saddened by the loss of homes and the devastating impact, the tragic fire in Harcourt will have on many in the local community.
Many of our family and friends have been affected, as with members of the Harcourt Lions Club.
Our club in offering anyone that have been impacted access to the Op Shop and have obtained the use of 2 homes for short term stay.
Thank you for your support during this time, we a sure there will be more assistance received as our neighbours start to recover.
