Take C.H.A.R.G.E. of Lithium-Ion Battery Safety 🔋🔥
Small batteries, big power—and big responsibility. 💡
Lithium-ion batteries are everywhere: from our phones and laptops to power tools and e-bikes. But behind their convenience lies a real risk when they’re mishandled. Each battery stores high energy in a flammable electrolyte—if it’s damaged, overcharged, or overheated, it can trigger thermal runaway, releasing extreme heat, gas, smoke, and even fire or explosion.
That’s why the UL Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) reminds everyone to Take C.H.A.R.G.E. of battery safety:
🔹 C — Choose Certified Products
Use only batteries and chargers tested by recognized safety labs (like UL).
🔹 H — Handle Carefully (Charge Safely)
Charge on non-flammable surfaces, away from heat and clutter. Never leave charging unattended.
🔹 A — Always Stay Alert for Warning Signs
Stop using batteries that swell, leak, overheat, or smell strange—these are danger signs.
🔹 R — Recycle Properly (Never Toss in Trash)
Tape terminals, store separately, and bring to official recycling or hazardous waste centers.
🔹 G — Get Out Quickly if There’s a Fire
If a battery catches fire, evacuate and call professionals—do not try to put it out yourself.
🔹 E — Educate Others
