Apple has announced a set of new safety features to help keep children safe.

These new tools are designed to allow parents to manage:
๐Ÿ‘€ the content their children can see
๐Ÿ’ฌ who their children can communicate with
โฑ when their children have access to apps
๐Ÿšธ settings to support age-appropriate experiences.

We encourage parents to use these new features when they become available. Features such as Age Range for Apps can be enabled right now in family settings, with other features becoming available later this year.

Apple's announcement follows eSafety's consistent exposure of safety shortcomings through its transparency reports and marks a step in the right direction by big tech.

While we're pleased to see this positive step, we'll continue to push for further improvements to protect children from sexual abuse online and harmful material and features. It's important to understand these changes aren't a silver bullet. For example, children aged 13+ will still be able to click through warnings and view images without parental consent. It's essential that parents continue to talk to children about their experiences on their devices.

๐Ÿ“šBook of the Month: The Huge Bag of Worries by Virginia Ironside

๐ŸŒŸ Wherever Jenny goes her worries follow her - in a big blue bag. They are with her all the time - at school, at home, when she is watching TV and even in the bathroom! Jenny decides they have to go, but who will help her get rid of them?

A funny and reassuring look at dealing with worries and anxiety, to be used as a springboard into important conversations with children.

A big thank you to the team at South Lake Primary School.

We recently delivered a professional development session covering Child Protection Mandatory Reporting and grooming awareness as part of the school's Staff PD Day.

It was a thought-provoking and engaging day, with staff actively participating in discussions and activities designed to strengthen their understanding of child safety and their responsibilities in protecting children and young people.

Thank you to everyone for your enthusiasm, insights, and commitment to creating safer environments for children. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ National Reconciliation Week (NRW) runs from 27 May to 3 June 2026. This yearโ€™s theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day. It reminds us that reconciliation is not a spectator sport - each of us has a role to play in creating positive change.

Looking for a simple way to engage children in conversations about reconciliation? Free Reconciliation Australia colouring sheets are perfect for schools, early learning services, disability services, workplaces, homes and community events.
