These two big lumps were tiny pinkies when they arrived. Their names are Grace & Jem. They were bonded as babies, but are supposed to want to be alone.
Les & Bill have never seen this before. They also enjoy the comfort of their heated box & room. They have a massive compound all to themselves, but this is what they choose to do.
We have them for another year before they will be wild girls, maybe together forever ❤️ kinda sweet

Les received a little parcel today - a tiny, little boy 💕.
He is so gorgeous, look at those whiskers!
Sadly, it means his mum died last night after being hit. Please stop and check pouches or ring us and we’ll check.
Can you imagine this little baby out in the freezing cold, being attacked?
There are so many wombats being hit on the roads atm. Thank you for stopping or calling, you may save a life.

Meet Miss Molly Malone. She’s been in care for a few weeks now, after being found in a backyard in Malone St. She had some pretty deep bites to her rear.

She hates everyone but Les, especially me!!! Les says ‘speak gently to her’, she growls back. I love a challenge & tried singing Miss Molly had a dolly …!
She jumped straight out to bite me!!

Here she is watching me, I’m not even in her area.

She’s feisty & almost ready to be free again- she’ll do well 🤞

Gorgeous Jinx is in a milk coma, with a little smile on his face.
He’s 1.3kg now.
He was off his bottle yesterday, which is very unusual for him, but he’s happier today.
😴

Look what arrived in the middle of the night - little poo head! She’s 500g and extremely cute. Les won’t let me name her Poo Head though 😞😂

It was once thought that mother wombats ‘toilet’ their babies. Can you imagine the mum’s getting their face to their backward facing pouch? 😳
The babies instinctively move their rear to the opening of the pouch. Obviously little Poo Head wasn’t a great aim or maybe it happened after mum was hit.

Thank you to our wonderful neighbours who saved her & brought her to the Refuge. They were desperate to keep her, but understood you have to be specially trained, not to mention it’s illegal!

Another beautiful face. Thank you for checking pouches- she would have died a horrible death, now she has a big chance at a great life.
Thank you to macropod coordinator, Deb, for the sleepless hours & stress you go through to save these gorgeous babies.
And, of course, her offsider, Paul, who contributes his many & varied talents to keep NARG going.
Absolute legends we are very lucky to have. 💕

The post I really don’t want to do 😢
Gorgeous little Magic couldn’t be saved. Dr Rosemary gave her the best care she could have gotten.
Mange depleted her so much.
It’s so hard & really makes me question why we bother- I do understand she died being loved and comfortable, rather than a slow death, starving, being attacked and freezing.
Thank you Dr Rosemary - you are an amazing human 💔

Beautiful Jinx is getting so big. He loves being carried in his special pouch/apron. He’s beginning to become inquisitive about the world around him. Les has been raising him since he was a tiny pinkie.

This beautiful baby girl lost her mum about an hour ago. The poor guy who hit them was devastated and sat with them until Bill arrived.
Sadly mum couldn’t be saved, but Bill got a little surprise when he checked the pouch.
This little eastern grey kangaroo wouldn’t have survived the freezing night on Cooma Rd.
Sadly I know how this poor man feels, it happens, but he did the right thing ringing & even staying with the animal - & he’s joining us at NARG!

Thanks Deb for taking her on. Deb is a macropod coordinator! ❤️
