Maffra SES conducted their annual Snow Training at the Snowy Plains North of Licola this weekend.

SES members from Tambo Valley, Stratford, Yarram, Moe, Morwell and Leongatha joined Maffra members.

Based at the Gorge Carpark on Saturday, members completed activities including snow chain fitting, navigation, communication, patient extrication and Argo familiarisation. Terry organised a fun quiz for Saturday night testing SES and general knowledge.

A realistic scenario was conducted on Sunday, where a search for an overdue family of 5 was conducted. Patients were located 3km apart forcing crews to separate. Challenges faced both teams with a very unwell hypothermia patient and having to manage cold and distressed young children.

Thanks to Darryn, Terry, Dean and Jo for organising the weekend and Matt & Kim for their hospitality.

Maffra SES recently received its new Argo all-terrain vehicle. Maffra SES has had an all-terrain vehicle for approximately 35 years and they have been used on many search and rescues. The first all-terrain vehicle was a Bombardier Bombi 1991-2004. This was replaced by the unit's previous Argo which it owned for 20 years.
