Good to see so many Vietnam vets and their families at Iluka yesterday with the commemoration supported by the team from the local RSL Chapter. The service included poetry and the story of a mate who died in country which made the service very personal.

💧 NSW Washing Machine Exchange Program – Applications Now Open
The NSW Government has opened a new round of its Washing Machine Exchange Program, and there’s some good news for our veteran community – DVA Gold Card holders are eligible to apply.
Eligible households can replace an existing top-loading washing machine with a more water and energy-efficient front-loading machine for just $250.
🎖️ Eligible concession cards are:
• DVA Gold Card
• Pensioner Concession Card – issued by Services Australia or DVA
• Health Care Card – issued by Services Australia
• Low-Income Health Care Card – issued by Services Australia
Commonwealth Seniors Health Cards are not accepted.
The $250 includes the replacement front-loader, delivery and installation, removal and recycling of your old top-loader, and a 2-year warranty.
Applications are first come, first served, so we encourage eligible veterans, members and others in our community to apply early.

A commemoration service marking Vietnam Veterans Day will be held at the Maclean War Memorial on Tuesday 18th August commencing at 11am.

This year the Maclean RSL sub-Branch will observe the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. We invite the community to join us in commemorating all who served and honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam war.

The evidence is in. Here's what Australia's landmark independent study into Middle East veterans found.

Many veterans continue to experience complex mental health conditions, chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, moral injury and challenges transitioning to civilian life. Families and carers also carry a significant, often unseen burden.

Today, RSL Australia has released the MEAO Veteran and Families Project Scoping Study – a landmark piece of research that establishes the strongest evidence base to date on the health and wellbeing of veterans who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, and their families.

The research was independently funded by the RSL, and was conducted by Gallipoli Medical Research, Griffith University, and Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research.

This study will help shape future policy, research and veteran-centred care, ensuring support is guided by evidence and the lived experiences of those who served.
