The R.E.Serve Op Shop commenced business at 10 Wharf Street Maclean, NSW in early April 2009. The vision when it opened has never changed, and that is to pay a fulltime Religious Education teacher at Maclean High School. Since then, the business has created funds to pay a part time co-originator for Special Religious Education (SRE) volunteer teachers in the 8 local public schools. As well Re-Serv
e helps finance other SRE Boards on the far north coast and in particular the Grafton management board. Our motto is helping others as we are being helped. There are several local churches supporting the management of R.E.Serve and almost 40 volunteer workers are involved in the everyday running of the shop including the sale of furniture, bric-a-brac, clothing etc. Opportunities for helping people in need and giving Centrelink participants a vocation are sidelines to teaching young people religious education in our community.
