Video to Support GPs in Preparing QCAT Health Reports

The Queensland Law Society has released a new, free video resource to support legal and health professionals in requesting and completing health professional reports for QCAT guardianship and administration matters.

Recently, Community Legal Centres Queensland convened a full-day workshop in Brisbane with 8 regional community legal centres (CLCs) to explore services, structures and organisational costings.

We also undertook the first round of our data validation for some of the regional chapters of the draft Evidence Guide to Legal Need in Queensland.

The discussions were highly productive and the information we gathered will be an important contributor to building a compelling, evidence-based case for sustained regional investment.

Department of Justice Legal Assistance Strategy and Funding Director Michelle Scott also joined the group for lunch which provided an opportunity for her to hear about the work of regional CLCs and some of the challenges.

It was great to come together with some of our regional colleagues to advance this work, and our sincere thanks to the participating CLCs for making the time to be a part of the day.

Next week is International Tenants' Day (ITD) on the 6th October
For 40 years, since 1986, ITD has been celebrated annually in the first week of October. ITD originated in France and the date was chosen to coincide with the United Nations World Habitat Day.

ITD is used to promote and raise awareness of tenants’ rights across the world. Tenants Queensland continues to be committed to improving the conditions for renters in our state and to make renting a secure and respected tenure.

Tenants Queensland has nine offices in Queensland and operates regional QSTARS offices in collaboration with partner organisations; Community Plus, HBNC (Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre), Mackay Regional Community Legal Centre Inc. Tasc Community Legal Centre, Enhance Care and Irasi.

Two of MRCLC's staff members, Simone and Janice, attended the Seniors Expo in Mackay yesterday at the Mackay Showground. This was the biggest Seniors Expo to date, and was a great opportunity for seniors to learn about services available to them in our region.
